An Inconvenient Book - Glenn Beck
The political pundit's view on many of the current social issues facing Americans today. Amusing and, (since I'm fairly conservative) spot on in many instances.

Falling Angels & The Virgin Blue - Tracy Chevalier
From the author of Girl with the Pearl Earring. I enjoyed The Virgin Blue and did not care Falling Angels. I haven't read "Pearl Earring" yet which is her most popular, we'll see...

A woman in charge : the life of Hillary Rodham Clinton - Carl Bernstein.
I decided I wanted to know what makes the polarizing figure tick. Carl Bernstein is a respected author and I trust that his work would be as honest as is possible. I am enjoying the read, she is about 30 now and I don't hate her yet.

Mere Christianity - C S Lewis
Very thought provoking. At first I thought it would be like preaching to the choir; but it is so much more than that.

Double cross - James Patterson
Psychologist / cop Alex Cross is battling two serial killers. I've never been disappointed in a James Patterson book.

Bleeding Kansas - Sara Paretsky
Not my favorite book of hers. But a decent read.

Shadow music - Julie Garwood
Historical romance set in Scotland. Not historically accurate and lame characterization. I was disappointed. This author is usually better.

Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln - Doris Kearns Goodwin
I'm looking forward to this. It was my Christmas gift to myself. You know, one that I bought and told the hubband to wrap and stick under the tree. This is going to be some heavy duty reading. Doris Kerns Goodwin is nothing if not thorough. I'll let you know.

Some of February's selections
The newest books by:
Andrew Greeley
Janet Evanovich
Jack Higgins
Rita Mae Brown
While still working on Team of Rivals.
Our Springfield Library is great. They keep a list of preferred authors and when books come out you are put on a list based on random selection and notified when it is your turn to get a new release. Then I can just drive through on my way home and pick up my books. This is great but I then have to read them and get them returned for the next patron to have. So I have to table the books I own and read them in between library books.
