Pro: I love dogs
dogs are great. I am not allowed to keep one in the apartment I rent, so it is always nice to love on someone else's poocher. That looks dirty, but you know what I mean.
Con: These dogs are big bastards
The dogs in question are two full grown golden retreivers. They roll/flop all over my feet, they walk beside me when I go to get a beer from the fridge, they jump up on the bed and sleep next to me. It is a lot to deal with when you are used to cats.
Pro: Dogs need you more
I have cats. I love them. But I grew up with dogs and they just seem to appreciate your attention more. It is a nice change from my older cat, Bronte, glaring at me from the top of the mantle because I didn't share my bacon with her.
*the cats are fine by the way. I am checking on them before/after work and a neighbor plays with them as well. Don't report me to PETA!!
Con: They need you more
these dogs are used to a LOT of attention. With both their people gone, it takes a lot of effort/time to keep them happy.
Pro: Dogs warn you of intruders
I could be attacked by drooling, psychotic clowns and my cats would still step gingerly over my limp form to reach their food bowls, without hesitation.
Con: Dogs bark at verything really, not just intruders/attack clowns
The other night they barked their effing heads off at my friends Van & Margaret who are practically one step away from being dogs themselves, that is how much they love dogs. It was annoying. But they are adorable so I got over it!
Pro: Handsome neighbors
Dog-sitting can introduce to you to attractive molecular biologists living next door.
