Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey
Loved this book as a child, but at the time knew nothing about Boston. Several years ago when I first went to Boston it was so fun to see the streets and parks mentioned in the book. I rode the swan boats and saw the statues of the ducklings and bought a print and took some great pictures.
Corduroy by Don Freeman
cute story about a little bear with corduroy overalls.
Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey
I love blueberies. I love to go out and pick them, and to cook and bake with them. This is a great story to read to your children and then go blueberry picking.
Home for a Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown
love this book. Great to read near Easter
Little House on the Praire books- any of them or better yet the whole series by Laura Ingalls Wilder
These chapter books are outstanding. I read them aloud to my children when they were little before bed. they have vivid descriptive words that help young readers to learn about pioneering days. I did not get the opportunity to read them as a child so I read them as a young adult and then again to my children.
