Introduction
Lately Fathers have been portrayed as idiots, morons, and generally slovenly. This may be true of some fathers, but if they were such idiots they wouldn't be able to support their respective TV families. I will add more as they come up.
Homer Simpson
If Marge and Lisa were really that smart they would have dropped this loser a long time ago.
Jim
From According to Jim.
Ray Romano
Everybody loves Raymond.
Father in Fairly Odd Parents
Yes I know I like to watch it.
Father in Jimmy Neutron
Another show, which started out with less of a focus on this bumbling buffoon of a father.
Father in Drake and Josh
A peripheral figure, but cast as semi-moronic.
Al Bundy
He was bad.
Archie Bunker
Potrayed as a racist and bigot.
Ummm - Tony Soprano?

Do cartoon dads count? What about Dr. Thaddeus Venture on Adult Swim's "The Venture Bros."? Also? I would say that, the 2 dads on "My Two Dads" (1987) were pretty awful. That judge was ALWAYS having to stop by!

Archie Bunker was a very good father. If you look at his relationship with Gloria, it had nothing to do with his politics. His dislike for Meathead was that he was piping his only daughter and just happened to disagree with him on everything. He is shown as really loving his family in just about every episode. Without his humanity he would have been a caricature.
