Why I Don't Understand Poker After Dark

Introduction
I've got really weird sleeping habits, and I regularly fall asleep on the couch after prime-time TV, then wake up after the late night talk shows are over. After watching some celebrity gossip, I'm stuck with Poker After Dark. No matter how many times I watch it, I just don't understand it.
1
They All Talk at Once
Everyone talks out of turn, but only after long bouts of silence. There will be long bouts of silence with only the sound of people playing with their poker chips, followed by everyone beginning a conversation at once. Amazing, they can all keep up wit the conversation.

2
Sunglasses At Night
There's always at least one guy, despite being in a crowded, dark casino, wearing a hat or sunglasses. If you're lucky, he's sporting both.
3
Unknown Characters
With any sport, you have to build up a knowledge of the individual players and/or teams. With Poker After Dark, you don't have the choice, as it always seems to be different guys.
4
Mute Dealers
The dealers never seem to talk at all. They simply sit there dealing out the cards, and often it's only their hands on TV.
5
Don't Learn Strategy
What makes or breaks a poker game is strategy. If we were in on all these guys' thoughts on why they were playing and betting a certain way, it would be one thing, but we aren't. We have no idea why they bet what they do on the cards that we are shown that they have in their hands. If you're going to show us their cards, explain their strategy.
6
No Personality
We don't get a chance to learn who these guys are. Sure, they sit around the table while they're betting, telling stories, but being that they're poker players, it's probably all BS anyway.
I never understood watching poker. It is more fun to actually play. I suppose you could pick up some tips, but experience is the best teacher.

Poker challenges my attention span. The objective for each player is to remain a totally blank slate so they cannot be read.
What fun is that???? Who wants to read a book with the pages all empty or a movie with the dialoge missing?
I think television should try a version of "Chatty Poker" or "Trash Talk Poker." Have at least one person be chatty. It would be fun to watch the emotions slowly rise to a simmer!

I'm with you all. I don't understand the interest in watching poker.
I remember my parents and grandparents getting together for big pokers games when I was little enough to still be wearing footie pajamas. I inherited my Gramma's poker chips; well, I didn't really inherit them, no one else wanted them. Well, that was a tangent. Too bad I can't post a picture of me watching them in my footie jammies.
It would be really fun if one of them would just bust out sobbing sometime.

ok poker is really boring to watch but # 2.They wear sunglasses and hats to hid their emotions so the other guys don't know their cards and # 3. They have different players so no one learns others strategys #4. The dealers are mute because they serve no purpose..they are there to make things easier for the players and to show the river cards. #5. You are suppose to figure it out on your own...they show their cards on the tv
