Introduction
I was blessed/cursed with this memory. If I met you an hour ago, nothin, if it is some random bit of trivia that I don't even know I know, there it is popping out.,
1
"Annie Oakley"
The first TV cowgirl. The adventures of sharpshooter Annie Oakley, her sidekick/boyfriend Lofty Craig, and her little brother Tag.
2
"Captain Midnight"
Captain Midnight was a war hero who led a mysterious government group called the Secret Squadron. He and his sidekick Icky, traveled around the globe stomping out evil. Later the show's title was changed to Jet Jackson, Flying Commando.
3
"December Bride"
A family sitcom about an old maid (Spring Byington) trying to find a husband. Henry Morgan (Col. Potter from MASH) co-starred as the zaney neighbor, Pete.
4
"Earn Your Vacation"
A game show that was Johnny Carson’s first TV job.
5
"Father Knows Best"
One of the first family TV comedys. Jim and Margaret Anderson and their kids Princess, Bud, and Kitten.
6
"Winky Dink and You"
The world's first interactive TV program; you sent off for a box of supplies; one of which was a plastic film sheet you put on the TV screen. Then when Winky Dink needed a bridge, or a door, or a light, you drew it on the TV with crayons
7
"Crusader Rabbit"
The first TV cartoon show. There was this rabbit who dressed in armour and rode around on a horse helping people. His sidekick was a tiger named Rags. The creators later did Rockie and Bullwinkle.
8
"Funny Boners"
A game show from the days when a boner was a mistake. Sort of an early bloopers show.
9
"You Asked For It"
You could write in and tell Art Baker what you wanted to see. Like a guy who could lift a car with his teetn, or a guy who let them shoot a cannonball into his stomach. Early freak show.
10
"Andy’s Gang"

Saturday morning kid’s show sponsered by Buster Brown shoes. Host Andy Devine, Froggie the Gremlin (Invisible frog who only became visible when Andy said, “Plunk your magic twanger Froggie.” , and Midnight the Cat who answered every question with, “Nice.” They showed serials; Gunga Ram the elephant boy;
11
"The Millionaire"
Rich guy John Bersford Tipton had his valet Michael Anthony go around giving random people $1 million. The only condition? They couldn’t tell anyone where they got it.
12
"Topper"
Banker Cosmo Topper and his wife share their home with three ghosts; George and Marion Kirby, and their St Bernard Neil. Of course only the TV audience and Cosmo could see or hear them. Hilarity ensued. I loved this one.
13
"People’s Choice"
Jackie Cooper played a City Councilman in this comedy. He was engaged to Mayor Peeples' daughter. The show was narrated by Cleo the bassett hound that only the TV audience could hear.
14
"Our Miss Brooks"
Eve Ardon played a school teacher. She had the hots for a biology teacher named Mr. Bointon, Richard Crenna (Rambo’s commanding officer) played a goofy teenager. The principal, Mr. Conklin was played by Gale Gordon, better known as Lucy’s boss on all the Lucy shows.
15
"Amos n Andy"
The funniest show in the history of television. Set in Chicago where the stories revolved around Amos Jones, Andy Brown, and The Kingfish, at the Mystic Knights of the Sea lodge hall where they hung out playing dominos as the Kingfish plotted get rich schemes. The first all black TV show. The show spawned some sayings you still hear occasionally; whenever their plot started falling apart, the Kingfish would moan, “Oh Andy, what ah we gonna do?” Whenever the Kingfish wanted to convince Andy to do something untoward, he would blackmail him with, “Do the name Ruby Begonia mean anything to ya?” Damned funny but politically incorrect.
I remember several of these. I loved December Bride, Father Knows Best (Bud was stupid) and Our Miss Brooks.

I loved watching the Millionaire. Back then a million dollars seemed like so much money and we had no money. We never missed watching this show--all the family together--dreaming of the millionaire coming to our home. He never came and we all grew up.
