Reasons to visit Denver

I've never been to Denver, the airport yes, the city no. Since there seems to be a wide range of opinions on Denver I shall put it on my list of holiday visitation for 2008. If you've seen my other list, I have my 2007 visits covered. You might want to check it just in case you are on it...

I've never been
It's always good to try new things and visit new places.
It looks pretty
I like pretty places, mountain caps with snow, trees, etc.
It's close to some ski areas
I no longer ski but have been considering the idea of visiting some ski resorts off season. I went to Telluride years ago and it was so quaint I'd love to find more places like that.
My mom's best friend lives in Denver
I could look her up; if she is still there...
Cheap airfare
It is generally less expensive to fly into "hub" areas and I think Denver is a hub for American. And don't they have a big, fancy airport?
