Introduction
Just to be fair.... I have issues with more than Microsoft.
1
Price. and YES... I understand that it is quality gear!! It's just pricey.
2
Compatability. It can be VERY difficult to find the same or comparable programs on a Mac
3
Ipods. They are handy.... but ther are better mp3 players on the market. (thanks herknees :) !)
4
The size of Mac's Development Team. They had to pull the operating system guys off of thier projects to help get the Iphone out in time... before ANOTHER delay occured
5
Overly smug Mac owners.
I work on Macs and have Microsoft at home. I have no preference except I wish we had bought Apple stock about 2 years ago!

Yup.....same here with Google's IPO. The Initial stock offering seemed expensive at the time... now look at it!

Yeah, they piss me off too. ITunes seems to have the best selection of music, but you have to burn the tunes to a CD, then rip the CD with some other program to get the music onto your non-apple player. Can't be MP3 like everybody else, noooo gotta be MP4.
I used to be a Mac guy but you can't get AutoCad for a Mac, which seems a little weird since all graphics people use them, so I had to switch like 25 years ago.

RAANT,
You seem somewhat ill-informed on what you are talking about:
1. You expect to get something of superior quality to the competition, for less money??? So, I guess a Porsche should be the same price as a KIA?
2. iPods DO PLAY MP3s. I burn all my old CDs as MP3s and load them right up. (Have you ever used an iPod?)
3. What you call "smug", I call "satisfied". Just because I'm happy I don't have to rid my Mac of viruses and deal with the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH and a really clunky UI, doesn't mean I'm smug... I'm really just feeling sorry for Windows users...

I'm like Kathybelle, I've worked on both Macs and PCs. We've always bought PCs at home. Both seem fine to me; however, Robin, you have confirmed Brie's assertion that she needs to dump the Dell laptop we bought her for college and get an Ibook. I said, "you go girl".

I agree with a lot of what TheRobin said.
I have no problem loading my personal MP3's onto my iPod, never purchased anything from iTunes in my life. However, I only have that iPod because it was a free gift from my employer. I think there are better MP3 players on the market, or at least comparable ones that cost less because they don't carry the designer label. Maybe when Apple realizes the value of FM radio I'll think about buying one of their players.
But as for that blue screen of death crack, would you like me to tell you how often my Macbook crashes? Seriously, I could go on for hours about the supposed stability of a Mac over PC. However, I'm willing to entertain the notion that it all went downhill when they started using PC parts.
That said...Yes, TheRobin, you/we Mac users are smug. But we're nothing compared to the Linux geeks. ;)

Being a graphic designer, I am definitely a Mac person; however, I am forced to use a PC at work. Let me tell you, the differences are definite. My Mac runs much more smoothly and the OS seems to be better thought out in general. The PC at work continues to get slower and slower, racking up crap in its registry-based OS (it's even XP, one of the better ones). I long for the day when I can have Mac equipment both at work and at home.

Thanks for the Ipod info TheRobin and herknees, I was assuming because my teenage nieces had issues getting their mp3's to work, that it was a mp3/Itunes/Mac proprietary thing. Thank you for your input... I learned something today :)
I have no Mac or Ipod, and I agree with herknees, there are better devices on the market.
The list will be corrected.
And it's not just Mac and Linux people that are smug, ever talk to a new owner of a overclocked, souped up gaming machine!
Thanks for your input everyone :)

Ah yes, the gamer with his super duper gaming machine. S-M-U-G. Can we just all agree that anyone with the slightest bit of computer knowledge is smug? F-ing superiority complexes - those geeks. :)
