Introduction
To get these, click Tools, then Addons, when the window pops up, click get extensions located on the lower right.
After that, just search for the addons and click to install!
It's that easy :)
1
No Script. An essential addon for security. Blocks and stops ALL flash and script based applications on web pages you visit.
It places a small icon on the bottom right of your browser, showing the status of the page you are on.
If you visit the site a lot and trust it, like OnMyList.com, you allow the page. Once a page is allowed, it is always allowed. If you are visiting a page and you are not sure, you can choose temporarily allow. The next time you visit the site, it will be blocked again.
The danger is that a page may have script written with a virus, when your computer tries to play what it thinks is a video..... BAM.... buffer overrun........ infestation begins. Viruses, spyware, malware and greyware can all get in this way. Firefox stops a lot of this natively
This stops automated webpages that run lots of flashy stuff and bog down your system. Most of a web page will work blocked. Video's such as youtube, will need to be unblocked.
A MUST HAVE TOOL!!! VERY EASY TO USE!!

AdBlock Plus. Install this, and kiss almost ALL ads goodbye permanently!
If an add gets thru, just right click on it and choose Adblock image, frame and/or address and it goes away. You never see them again!
3
View Cookies CS. A great cookie manager. Click Tools, then view cookies, and clear them... poof. gone. Protect the ones you want, like login and shopping cart cookies!
4
Download Statusbar. Easily manage and maintain your downloads. Put a icon on the bottom left indicating download status.
5
Dr. Web. Anti virus web checker. Scan a file BEFORE you download it on the Dr. Web server, not your computer. Just right click on the download and scan before downloading!
6
Forecast Fox. Instant weather for your location. Nuff' said.
7
Smart Middle Click. Turns your scroll wheel into a more usefull tool.
8
MacAfee Site Advisor. Know if the site you are on is bad. Great for families. Google " Site Advisor Firefox", as it can be a pain to find.
9
Videodownloader. Grab your favorite YouTube videos before they dissapear! Saves to flash video.
Wow! Who knew? I guess you did - Thx! I've been using Firefox at home for a couple of years now instead of IE. I get so much less trash here than at work where I have to use IE.

Thanks. I have downloaded Firefox.
Think I goofed on buying CA-virus. Consumer Report came today. It was ranked very low.
TrendMicro was first, Check Point second. AND I messed up by not purchasing firewall. It did say Windows XP has free firewall - ZoneAlarm 7 at www.download.com
Thanks for the input. This stresses my aging brain cells!

kathybelle... Adding Zone Alarm to your system wouldn't be a bad idea, it will work fine with Windows Firewall.
Just make sure your Windows firewall is turned on. Click Start, then control panel....scroll down to bottom, select windows firewall. It's just on, off or custom. Choose ON if it hasn't been turned on already.
If any questions, don't hesitate to ask! :)
