Introduction
I finally changed it from 11 to 40+. Because there is more to the internet than porn.
1
2
eBay/Half.com
After paying 90 bucks for a textbook, losing two $300 phones and accumulating a laptop graveyard, I decided I would never pay full price for anything again.
3
Zamzar
Handy file-conversion website. Converts docs to PDFs, wavs to mp3s and YouTube videos to mp4s, etc.
4
Google Reader
Even though I'm a techie, I found using RSS cumbersome. Until Google saved my life.
5
Farecast
This site will tell you whether flight prices are going up or down, plus it aggregates some of the cheapest air fare available.
6

11
Internet Movie Database
A little bit of a misnomer since you can search TV too, but a great way to figure out "where are they now?" My last search: Anna Sophia Robb.
12
Mailbox Finder
Have you ever spent minutes searching for a mailbox? This handy Google Map points out exactly where to find one.
13
allmusic
It's like an encyclopedia of music. Find track listings for virtually any album, reviews and clips.
14
TVGuide Listings
Why buy a cumbersome magazine when you can find upcoming Simpsons episodes for free?
15
Weather.com
I know there are a crazy number of widgets for checking the weather, but weather.com is highly customizable.
16
What's Cooking Grandma?
www.humanbeans.net/whatscookinggrandma/
Cooking for one is hard but these recipes make you feel the love.
17
Download.com
Although you have to pay for some of the stuff, this is a one stop shop for great shareware and programs you probably didn't even think you needed.
18
Yelp/Citysearch
Very helpful user generated reviews for restaurants, spas, and more.
19
Dictionary.com/Thesaurus.com
"I cant find anything that rhymes with the word rhyme, so I gotta rhyme rhyme with mixture" This doesn't have to happen to you too.
20
time.gov
Do you ever have a sneaking suspicion that the time on your computer is wrong? This site will tell you exactly what time it is...and yes your computer is probably wrong.
21
Rotten Tomatoes
I usually check RT after I see a movie to see how other people felt about it. Includes links to critics reviews and showtimes. Plus I can see if a movie is going to suck or not.
22
Babelfish
A quick, albeit rough and inconsistent, online translation tool to and from a variety of languages.
23
WebMD
So I've had a couple of ailments (strep throat, cold sores, etc.) which I have self-diagnosed through WebMD. I'm no doctor, but the site makes me think I am.
24
Wi-Fi Finder
Great tool for finding (sometimes free) wi-fi near you or to a future destination.
25
Thrift Feeds
I used to be one of those person that searched across the internet for good deals, but ThriftFeeds aggregates them into one nifty list.
26
Auto Trader
Buying a new car is tough. Auto Trader makes it a lot easier by allowing you to search by ZIP, make, model, price, etc.
27
So You Wanna
Yeah I wanna! This site covers life's most important questions like how to cure a hangover, lie persuasively or convert to Buddhism.
28
SignalMap
Want to know if your new place has good cell phone service or if you can make a call from the local park? An actual map of cell phone signals. Go figure.
29
numbr
Lets say you meet some guy at a party who you're not sure is the love of your life or just a creep. You can give him an auto-created telephone number from numbr and set to expire so when the number vanishes, so do you.
30
Double Feature Finder
Just what the internet was made for -- find two movies back to back so you can catch two movies for the price of one.
31
Popularity Finder
Another number feature: Have Popularity Finder dial you when you want to get out of a meeting, interrupt a conversation or ditch that jerk who won't leave you alone.
32
Mapquest
This is a bit of a no-brainer and I actually use Google Maps and Yahoo! maps more than I do Mapquest but they both lack something that makes Mapquest unique -- the ability to avoid freeways and toll roads, which in L.A. is VERY important.
33
HealthMap
Wanna freak yourself out? Use Health Map to find out what infectious diseases are breaking out near you.
34
Learn2Type
I just used this to prove to a friend that I type as slowly as I do. Check how fast you type, you're probably better than me.
35
National Center for Educational Statistics
Okay it sounds boring, but its actually really cool, especially those with young ones or students. Enter some information and find out statistics about a school, library or college near you. Simple, yet very informative.
36
Mpire
There are a lot of compare & shop sites out there. but I tried mPire this weekend and found it to be he most streamlined and easy to use.
37
Fast Food Maps
Absolutely the most useful site on this list. Fast Food Maps confirmed my suspicions that there are no fast food restaurants within 2 miles of my house (I know!) but it is extremely easy to see where the nearest KFC is.
38
FaxZero
Do you need to send a fax, but find yourself fax-less? This online service lets you send a fax for free (with ads) or just two bucks for an ad-free fax.
39
Retail Me Not
Enter the website where you plan to shop and Retail Me Not spits out coupon codes for you to use immediately.
40
NPA-NXX Geolocator
Sometimes I get a call from an area code that I don't recognize. I used to use Google but now I use this. Input the first six digits of a telephone number and this gerolocator spits out an approximation of where the call is coming from.
Appreciate the heads up on these - great idea!

I'd put Half, Pandora, IMDB and AllMusic on my Top 10 list.
Farecast, Thrift Feeds and Anagrammer were useful finds.
What about Baby Name Wizard? (http://www.babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html)
