Introduction

I am not a Packers fan and have never said Brett Favre's my favorite player. He is one of those rare athletes of any kind though, that has likability that transcends team loyalties. IF you like football you almost have to like him. Its been one of the best sports stories in 2007. I hope it continues.

1

He is tough as hell

Brett has started in 261 straight games including the playoffs. In the NFL that is a phemonenal achievement that is only accomplished by playing with severe injuries taht would sideline a less tough player. Brett has started every game since his first start in 1992. Only one other player (Jeff Fegales, a punter) can claim this honor over the same period.

He plays with the same joy of a little kid

At 38 years old, he might be the most pumped up guy on the field. Although there are lots of high energy guys, Its hard to find many people as charismatic as Brett in the NFL.

He has won a Super Bowl

He's led his team to two Big Games and won Super Bowl XXI against the Patriots.
4

He is human

Brett Favre checked into rehab for addiction to pain killers and alcohol back in 1996. Superheros with flaws make them that much better.
5

He keeps coming back

I have to admit after the last two years I was hoping he would hang up the cleats. It's awful to see someone play like a shell of their former selves.

But this year it's like old times. He's slinging the ball around and is genuinely hooked up to the rejuvenation machine. How much easier would it have been for him to decide enough is enough?

i am die hard Bears...but i respect Favre like others respect "Michael". He is a true bad ass and I fear everytime the Bears play him, maybe he will be human this weekend.

I'm a 49ers fan, but I love Brett Favre. Right before he hit the record for career touchdowns, some sports commentator said, "Rooting for Brett Favre is like rooting for America." That cracked me up, and described it perfectly.

Another Bears fan checking in. Favre sure didn't seem too awesome last weekend, but then again, that wasn't really the Favre that we know. He's one of those QBs that you never count as out of the game, no matter how muh you're ahead.

I'm with you, Kelly. The Chiefs are doin' a real good job at sucking donkey dicks this year, so I will be cheering for the Pack!

Reason # 6 - He just tied an NFL record for throwing an 81-yard touchdown pass to win an overtime game. Against Denver. Awesome!
