Top Reasons It sucks to be a Dallas Sports fan as of late

2-0 lead. Up 13 points with five minutes left. Jason Terry swishing one 12 ft. jumper after another off screens. Boys in white and blue in cruise control. And... we lose. How did this happen? How did we lose 4 in a row?

I have holes in my furniture and walls for each phantom foul called on Wade. I'll never fully recover from this.

This series shook my faith in basketball, it did the same for the Sports Guy.

Where to begin? Mavs have a regular season for the ages, going 67-15. Dirk wins the MVP (though Nash deserved it more). All teams in the league, Phoenix and San Antonio included, feared a 7-game series with the deep and relentless Mavs... Oh wait, except for one team, the GSW, who have owned us for 2+ years.

Jason Richardson's put-back jam in Shawn Bradley's face w/ 1 second left in 04-05? Baron Davis' buzzer beating jumper to win it? J-Rich's dribble-up-the-court, spin once, heave a running three-pointer to take a hammer to my heart? My dad and I remember all of these regular season games, and that's why we feared this match-up. That's why we should've tanked the game against the Clippers and not the Warriors at the end of the season!

It certainly didn't help that I'm now living in the Bay area. Know when I knew we wouldn't win? When I drove through the tenderloin one afternoon and saw an old homeless man in a wheelchair... wearing a jersey that read "5" on the front and "Davis" on the back."

Ohhhh Romo. The savior of Dallas Cowboys football. Just not in Fall 2006. Even though I'm just a bandwagon Cowboys fan, the fumbled snap was like a punch to the gut, or running into a brick wall. I was numb and stunned for about 24 hours after it happened. Romo jokes at work the next day just seemed to bounce off me. Sports Center wouldn't stop showing it. The agony.
