on a budget this christmas. jeremy's carries designer clothes marked down, usually marked down again, maybe again - and this weekend only - AN EXTRA 50% OFF THE ENTIRE STORE.

the place was packed. i was short of breath, started trembling, and got after it.

i also saw some colleagues there. we were happy to see each other, but each knowing the other has good taste, there was concern about competition.

you have to have a keen, darting eye. and you have to grab. don't spend too much time assessing the piece - it might be too late if you dally. grab it. find a corner. guard your pile. then assess.

also, look at piles and under racks. thing are tossed aside or fall off the hanger. people don't pay attention to these spaces, so you might find a treasure.

i can guesstimate what it's going to look like on someone if i try it on myself. this is done in public - no time to wait for the dressing room - so wear a layer you can strip down to, and try stuff on without too much hassle.

i had to wait in line more than an hour to pay. it was worth it, because.....
