Introduction
So here I am in Denver, the major metropolitan area of the Rocky Mountain States. You know us, you fly over us between coasts, and you have to deal with our high plains and Rocky Mountains when you drive cross-country. But some big retailers don’t want to come to our mile high city. We petition them, some have flirted with the notion of coming, but still no. We have lots of disposable income, we have chips on our shoulders about living in the least populated time zone, and we just want to buy what the popular time zones are buying. And as such, here are my top 5 stores that need to come to Denver:
IKEA

Oh IKEA, we heard that you thought of coming here a few years ago, but nothing yet. Then you decided to build a store in UTAH of all places, and not here. Denver is bigger than Salt Lake City, we like to spend money on Technicolor dishes, so what gives?
H&M

We read about all your trendy clothes and fun accessories in magazines, we see celebrities and reality shows wearing and talking about your goods. Can we buy some too? Not us, unless we want to fly either east or west to one of your stores…you can’t even buy H&M goods online.
Trader Joe's
www.traderjoes.com/
The cool funky food and natural products! The great selection of cheap booze! I’m sure Joe won’t come to Colorado because of the “blue laws” regarding alcohol sales in grocery stores in the state…but trust me when I tell you even if Joe doesn’t sell wine, the store would kill in this town.
Filene's Basement
www.filenesbasement.com/
Filene, we know you have gotten as far west as Chicago. Denver is just a hop, skip, and a big jump from there. We will line up to snag your great bargains when you get here.
Meijer's
www.meijer.com/
This Midwestern-based store was the super Wal-Mart of its day, where you can still go to the purple cow snack bar and get lime sluprees and great ice cream to top off your grocery and gun shopping. It’s now called just “Meijer” but it still has more character in its deleted apostrophe than a Wal-Mart or Kmart will ever have.
