Introduction
these are words that annoy me when used in conversation. i try not to hold it against the lingo-user. i'm sure this list will continue to grow as more come to mind.
bra
this is so the worst. i'm shifting everything down and putting this on the top of my list. i HATE when men call each other "bra"....which is a terrible substitution for "bro"...which is not much better.
mani / pedi
i think this is a san francisco thing? please take the extra time to say "manicure" or "pedicure".
reso
"did you make a reso?" no. but i made a reservation.
resto
similar to reso. "what's you're fave resto?" restaurant, please.
later / late
bugs me when someone ends a phone conversation with "later" or the even more annoying "late". can you not just say "bye"?
chill
if someone is telling me to chill, it probably means that's the last thing i want to hear and my reaction will be opposite of "chilling".
the way george w. bush says "america"
sounds like "mairca" or "merka". embarrassing considering.
lylas
i'm not in to acronyms (i do think that cell phone commercial is pretty funny) and i really don't like when an acronym morphs into a word.
girlie
i'm not a girlie, so please don't call me one.
natch
instead of naturally. fingernails on a chalkboard, natch.
arrogant acronyms
when people use acronyms and they know you're unlikely to have a clue what they mean...they just want to sound important. "i need to know an ROI on that TCF paper". hate that.
i hate it when people say 'vaca' for vacation. as in, i'm on vaca today. the most troubling thing is, i heard myself say it the other day...
also - i've heard mani and pedi in MO and CO too.

Amen, you purple rascal. I'm thinking on a list of words that have been added to the dictionary, but shouldn't have been. I tried to impress on my kids that people judge you by the way you speak.

I hate 'mayo' for mayonaise.
And I've lost this battle, but when my kids were little I tried to avoid the shortening of their names. I rememeber, my mom-in-law would call the son "Ty" and I would say (with emphasis) LER! and the daughter "Brie" and, again, I would say, ANNE!
And I totally agree with Ol Hippie on speakage. I LOATHE poor grammar. But that's another list...

it bothers me when the word "whatever" is used in place of a thoughtful response. But it bothers me more when it's shortened to "whatevs'". How did that happen?
Like that list! I haven't heard of several of those. I think "merka" is my favorite.
