Introduction
Alright, you laser-lipped listers who are negative nellies and down on the establishment, I gained insight from the two links posted below. This is what I discovered about a generation of young people....
1
They support the growth of bookstores and high technology products.
They are comfortable with computers and hi-tech.
2
They are better educated and continued in college to avoid having to go to war.
3
The women work outside the home in greater numbers, while raising young children
4
They are an individualistic generation, with a focus on self.
5
They are more liberal, which deepens the rift over issues like abortion and homosexuality."
6
They have a tendency to reject authority.
7
Music is an expression of their generational identity.
8
42% were dropouts from formal religion.
9
Those that return are "usually less tied to tradition and less dependable as church members.
10
Hectic lifestyles are common with leisure time infringed upon by the various demands of life.
11
They are known for their political unrest.
12
They participated in anti-war protests,
13
And sexual freedom,
14
And an environmental movement,
15
And protests,
16
And experimentation with various intoxicating recreational substances.
17
They were less optimistic,
18
distrustful of government,
19
and generally cynical.

I speak of the baby boomers - MY generation- (born between 1946-1964.)
Soooo, if we give you a hard time, it is NOT because we are blaming you for being any of the above.
We just want the credit.
We just want the credit.
Amen!
What bothers them more? That we were, at one time, like them? Or that they they may become us?

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.

Hey Kathybelle-
Baby boomers were the last of a generation who actually had intelligence to back-up their causes. Are you saying your kids will have the same passion and ability to bring the masses together and make positive change happen? Not in this country...let's face facts, our youth is dumber and the media pacifies them to a level we can't even comphend as a child growing up pre-cable/internet days.
Encyclopedia Brittanica, National Geographic, Wild Kingdom and Phil Donohue have been wiped out in the tangible and organic sense for brain absorption. What's next and what was I just taking about? No spell check here, can you tell?

Having been born in 1959,(oops, now I've revealed my age---but only if you do the math!) I can relate to this list. My sons are always saying, "Oh Mom, you are so Old School." I always take it as a compliment, but somehow I don't think that's the way they intend it! lol ;)
