Yep, I'm red... (You asked for it, Ol Hippie)

Introduction

I've been a goody two shoes, conservative, young Republican type my whole life. I vote, mostly, conservative and believe in less rather than more government. Note to Ol Hippie; I did vote for a democrat in the 1988 primaries; Bruce Babbit

PS - sorry for the bad language, but sometimes I just get soooo mad!

1

Handouts

Don't believe in helping others not help themselves. We definitely need to take care of our kids, elderly and disabled. However, if you can get off your ass and work, do it.
2

Responsibility

Be responsible for yourself and your children. Accept responsibility when you screw up, don't make excuses. If you want to break the law, accept the punishment. If you don't want to be educated than don't expect to live well. Accept the consequences for your decisions.

National Security

The current threat of Islamic extremists scares the crap out of me. I believe they will not be impressed by any effort of reconciliation. The UN will not be able to work with them. As a matter of fact, I think only brute force will show them that we will not live under Sharia dogma. We don't fight wars any more, we operate politically correct military conflicts that don't work and cost too many American lives.

Religion

Under God works for me. Actually my choice is the God with the Son, Jesus, who died for me. Whatever your choice is, works for me too; as long as you don't infringe on my rights. Religion does not belong in public schools, private prayer (to whomever) belongs where ever a person feels the need.

Dare I say it? The "A" word

I hate it. I, personally, believe it is taking a life. However, I also feel it is, and never has been, a governmental issue. I will never base my vote on a candidate's stand on abortion. This is between a woman, a man, possibly parents if they are young, and their consciences.

Tree hugging

I am married to a conservation service employee. He has taught me a lot about environmental issues. For example, did you know that there are more trees in American now than when John Smith met Pocahontas? Just use common sense, be reasonable and everyone do their part.

Freedom of speech

We have it, thank God and our forefathers, use it wisely and truthfully. I'd appreciate it if you didn't burn the flag, but you have the right to do so and I don't want an amendment saying you don't.

Main stream media

Yep, I believe they lean way left. Yep, I like Fox. However, we red states have talk radio. I think it will be a travesty if the Fairness Doctrine takes hold, we'll have to see how that goes.

Politicians

Shut the F**K up and do your jobs. No more stupid congressional witch hunts to make the other party look bad. Quit fighting and work together to make our country safe and fiscally strong with self reliant citizens.
10

Pollyanna

I've been told I am a Pollyanna who doesn't really understand the way things really work. If so, I'm okay with that. Because in this wonderful country of ours, I have that right. Take me or leave me; at my age I now know I can't please everyone and don't try to anymore.

Since I have seen way more blues on this site, I will stand in the red corner with you, Pam! I just hope we don't end up purple and black!

If more conservatives had open minds like yours, it wouldn't be such a dirty word. Just remember though, being a "liberal" isn't as bad as FOX News makes it either...

Great list. I agree with nearly every point.

A little bad news though, your positions place you at blue violet on the color scale. Closer to blue that red.

Well, I didn't mention Gay Marriage, Immigration or some other things I'm pretty 'red' on. But, still, if you're ever in town from FL stop on by.

Wait a minute... What do you have against gay marriage? What possible effect on YOUR life (not your feelings or attitude) but real effect on your life does 2 men or women marring each other have? I have a much bigger problem with married people cheating on their spouses than I have about who the hell wants to get married.

I just happen to prefer the term marriage not be used when same sex couples legalize their unions. And, I totally agree that adultery is worse. One is a semantic principal and the other is a moral ideal.

Fox News told me that the rest of the media was left leaning.
