Reasons to support our President.

Introduction

Okay, he may not be the shiniest penny in the roll, but he is our President, and he deserves better than he's been getting on this site. Richard Nixon talked about the "silent majority," I think it is time for that majority to stand up to the politically correct liberals..

1

Because he is too stupid to support himself.

Okay, he's no Bill Clinton when it comes to public speaking. But Bill Clinton is no George Bush when it comes to protecting us, and fighting terrorism.
2

Over 50% of the American people don't want socialized medicine, he is not the only one.

There are horror stores from around the world about socialized medicine. If people want socialized medicine so bad, they can move to France.
3

Why should people who work the hardest, support the people who work the least.

There are millions of success stories in this wonderful country from every economic class. On almost every football telecast they talk about some player who's mother worked three jobs so her children could go to college and have a better life. Why should she have to support some other less caring woman's children too.
4

Gay marriage.

The Bible says homosexuality is "an abomination." It also says that marriage is between a man and a woman. That is good enough for me.
5

Abortion

I'm always amazed that the same people who are carrying signs protesting the death penalty for viscous killers, and whining about how many people are dying in Iraq, are perfectly fine with killing unborn babies. They like to call them "fetuses" so they don't have to deal with the fact that they are unborn babies.
6

Personal integrity and loyalty

The liberals are always bashing the President for not changing his mind all the time, and for not firing people he has appointed abd trusts. I call that the strength of conviction, and loyalty. Where I come from, those are admirable traits.
7

Evolutiion

The liberals will never admit that evolution is just a theory. They believe that men evolved from monkeys; if that is true, why are there still monkeys? Shouldn't they all be human by now?
8

Religion

I saw yesterday in a comment someone bragging about being an atheist, and having read the Bible twice. It is a shame they didn't get more out of it. The liberals would have us believe that we should all accept secularism, that we are too sophisticated for God. I for one disagree, and I'm glad my President does as well.
9

Immigration

This country was built, to a large extent, by legal immigrants. We all embrace our roots. But the key word is "legal," my ancestors didn't sneak in under cover of darkness, and then demand amnesty. Illegal immigrants are criminals by definition.
10

No nonsense foriegn policy

Why should our President negotiate with dictators? Roosevelt trusted Stalin, and look what it brought us, 60 years of cold war. I suppose the liberals would have said, "Don't blame the Japanese. It was our fault, we imposed an oil embargo on the poor Japanese." Sorry, I don't agree. I am proud of my country, and my President.

Mia Wallace? Are you for real? Well, at least you have enough guts to admit your aren't a moderate. I can respect that. You are a delusional red stater, but you aren't claiming to be a moderate.

We are all illegal immigrants on the Native Americans soil.
And we are all guests on the planet earth.
And we all belong to God.

You go girl! Well said. I am with you all of the way.

I also am not a moderate nor have never claimed to be one, and I am proud to be what if referred to in the media as a KoolAid drinker.

And thanks be that this site is like our country, you have the freedom to state your beliefs.

I am a right-handed moderate and feel my position in the balance of politics is not of any less importance than those in the extreme wings.
Thanks for your list, Mia!

Sorry, you lost me at #1... You admit that Iraq didn't attack us, but it was ok that we attacked them because "it was pretty much the same people"... you are nuts (and very ignorant)... Get educated on the subject (or would that make you all "book-smart" and liberal if you had an education?)

With awesome arguments like these you make, I can see why the prez only has a 25% approval rating... so much fro the "silent majority" ...nice try.

Great post Mia...we should support our President! Particularly points 2 and beyond! I'm still wondering about point #1, however; Bush wasn't alone...seems like the entire congress supported our trip to Iraq if my memory serves me well!

I had read this list first thing this morning before work. I thought that maybe I was only half awake and not reading correctly.

Sadly, this is not the case.

Your opinion is as valid as the next, but I think you are dead wrong :)

When anyone uses the terms Liberal, Conservative, Right or Left in expressing their beliefs I know immidiately that they are incapable of expressing the complexities that are required to describe their own or others opinions. When you use these terms you are just saying "Us" and "Them" artificially dividing people and ignoring the truth of the complex nature of every individual.

Life is not simple, no matter how it is presented as to you by the Media, politicians and other people.

Distrust anyone who does this. They are not being honest either about their own beliefs nor those of the artificialy formed group that they try to bring into existence through their speech.

God, where to start - how about number 2?

2. First of all, the term socialized medicine is one made up by the opponents of universal health care, and you statements about how many people are opposed to a system that provides care for all citizens is just flat out wrong. Here are some recent poll results:
- May 4-6 (CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll): 64 percent of respondents said they "think the government should provide a national health insurance program for all Americans, even if this would require higher taxes."
- May 31-June 5 poll (conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates International for the Kaiser Family Foundation): 53 percent of respondents said they wanted a presidential candidate to propose "a new health plan that would make a major effort to provide health insurance for all or nearly all of the uninsured," even if it "would involve a substantial increase in spending," in contrast with 21 percent in favor of a "new health plan that is more limited and would cover only some groups of the uninsured BUT would involve less new spending" and 17 percent in favor of "[k]eeping things basically as they are."

1. You are included and probably wealthy. And obviously very young and indoctrinated.
2. Unfortunately, only 50 % of the population can afford health care at the current premium level. Come down to earth and see how bad it is Sweety. There are many people dying an early death because they can't afford access to preventative health care. A prime example is hypertension, which is the "silent killer."
3. I have worked all of my life (50 yrs) and it has been my experience that those who work the hardest get paid the least and those who work the least get paid the most. They are usually the boss. If you ever have a job you will understand. It is the poor man who makes he rich man rich. The disparity that currently exists in America is why we are so polarized.
4.You need to study Constantine's canonization of the Bible. It may be a public administration tool for management of the masses. It was effectively a form of legal document. That is why Christianity was "legalized." Constantine claimed to be a Christian, but was not baptized until the week of his death, on his death bed. That way he could ask for forgiveness for all of his family members he killed. He needed subjects and legal intercourse was the only allowable type. Roman Emperors were barbarians.
5. I agree, no matter how crappy the child's life may turn out. Abortion is an easy way to divert embarrassment.
6. All of the President's inner circle are loyal...or they get the axe. Integrity and loyalty are not necessarily connected. It appears that they may be partners in crime.
7. W himself may be proof positive that man is evolved from monkeys. In this case, Cheney is the organ grinder. And "evolution" only has one "i."
8. See # 4.
9. All that is necessary to create criminals is to reduce the threshold of legality. Politicians have an easy time lowering and a very difficult time raising the threshold. When you raise, you relinquish some power. The problem is power. It is called the "tightening of the noose of the social contract theory."
10. Foreign policy is like a school yard. We need to quit going around the world taking other kids' milk money and then offering it to other kids that we like. It is international bullyism. And, that is why our policy has been criticized around the world. You need to read some Immanuel Kant writings. "From each according to ability, to each according to need." This mirrors Jesus, whom I am sure you claim as your own political persuasion. "Share, and share alike." Kant wrote the rules on justified war. Jesus was more conservative. I am satisfied that his opinion was that no war is acceptable, because no killing is acceptable. (See # 5)
11. If you have already been to college, go back and study with an open mind. Education is not merely validation of what you already think. Be prepared to unlearn, so you can develop your own conviction without being led by the nose. (Kohlberg's Theory of Moral Development)

3. the bible says a lot of crazy things that no one gives a second thought to - You have read Leviticus, haven't you? Well obviously you have because that's where the majority of the "god hates gays" stuff comes from. Using your "if the bible says it then it's good enough for me" logic, I should be able to own slaves, marry more than one woman, be put to death for eating pork, be cast out of the city I live in for having sex wth my wife during her period...man, I could keep this up for hours, becuase there are so many absurd, goofy, inconsistent regulations set out in biblical law that have absolutely no bearing on life in the 21st Century (check out the laws about unclean bodily discharges in chapter 15. I think we're all in trouble).

Well, my oh my, I've certainly gotten popular today. You boys (I assume you are boys) have certainly goven me a lot to think about.

By liberal, I mean anyone who wants to take away what a person has worked for, and give it to someone who doesn't work at all. By conservative I mean anyone who believes that everyone who can work, should work, and that government should be less powerful, and that government should stay out of our schools.

And what is wrong with being rich? Or young and rich? My hasband was raised poor, but believed in the American dream and worked his fingers to the bone; he started his own business, and now has 200 empolyees (some of them 50 year old men), like you, they all think they are smarter than him, and know more than him, and believe they are responsible for his success. The truth is they are supporting their little redneck families off of his ideas, and his hard work. Where is your $20,000,000.00 per year company, Joe?

By the way Joe, since you want to critique my grammer and spelling here; what does, "makes he a rich man" mean; Bush's inner circle "is" loyal, not "are" loyal, and your quote, which should have been preceded by a comma, not a period is from Karl Marx, not Kant, dickwad.

I believe I have more respect for the radical left wing liberals than I do for the "middle of the roaders," at least the liberals believe in something, and believe it is worth fighting for. My father used to say that if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

I have an idea; why don't you "can't we just stay away from labels," people make a list of what you DO believe in. If you've gotten to be adults without knowing what you believe in, I feel sorry for you. You may say, "must we label each other?" and "can't we all just get along?" like Rodney King. The answer is, sure, you can get along with everyone if you have no core values that you believe are worth fighting for.

I will give Bush credit for becoming President without accually being elected to office, but he's still an idiot. He has done absolutly nothing for gas prices, to ensure troops safety, recover US citizens from natural disasters, or made any positive progress with education. He lost all respect from me when he was Govener of Texas.
