Introduction

I'm an old guy, rather comfortable financially; my children are grown, and I have no grandchildren (but that is another list); they can't really hurt me. But what is the matter with you young people? Don't you read the paper? Why aren't there two million of you on the mall every day demanding these guys be removed from office? They are running amok, destroying the constitution, and YOUR FUTURES, and YOUR CHILDREN'S FUTURES! Meanwhile lists about crapping at work, who is hot, and a kid walking in on a blow job, are getting hundreds of hits. I really NEED for all-a-y'all to get pissed off.

We ended the war in Viet Nam, and got NIxon removed from office (and I like Nixon better than Bush); we gave you guys ideal, and peaceful childhood years. Now get offf your lazy asses, IT'S YOUR TURN TO SAVE THE COUNTRY.

1

They lied about Iraq's involvement in 9/11.

www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_dave_lin_060719_…

This was so effective that at one point 70% of Americans actually believed Saddam was behind 9/11. Testimony has shown that they knew on 9/13/2001 that this was not true.
2

They said Al Qaeda was linked to Iraq.

Bush still insists that there was a "relationship" between Iraq and Al Qaeda. But the 9/11 Commission released a report saying, among other things, that there was no "collaborative relationship" between Al Qaeda and Iraq.
3

They lied about WMDs

Bush insisted that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction but his "evidence" consisted mostly of forged documents, plagiarized student papers, and vague satellite photos. There was ample evidence in 2002 that Saddam had no weapons.
4

They lied about Iraq's mobil weapons labs.

Bush and his team repeatedly claimed that Iraq possessed mobile weapons labs capable of producing anthrax. Colin Powell showed diagrams of them at his speech before the UN to justify invading Iraq. These claims originated from Curveball, a discredited Iraqi informer who fed Bush many of the stories related to WMD. On May 29, 2003, two small trailers matching the description were found in Iraq. A team of bio-weapons experts examined the trailers and concluded they were simply designed to produce hydrogen for weather balloons. But, for over a year, Bush claimed these were part of Iraq's bio-weapons program. The expert's report was suppressed and only recently made public.

They violated the Geneva Convention by torturing prisoners of war.

1/25/02 - White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales warned the President of "the threat of domestic criminal prosecution under the War Crimes Act," a federal statute, for torturing prisoners. He advised Bush to invent a legal technicality --declaring detainees in the "war on terror" to be outside the Geneva Conventions --which, he said, "substantially reduces" the chance of prosecution.
6

Illegal wiretaps of US citizens.

The Bush wiretaps violated US law because he was required to get approval from FISA. He can start a wiretap of a suspected terrorist at any time but must then seek approval to continue within 72 hours.
7

They violated international law.

According to our Constitution, International Treaties are part of the "supreme Law of the Land". They are not something that can be ignored when they are inconvenient. Bush's violations of the UN Charter and the Nuremberg Charter are, therefore, impeachable offenses.
8

Illegal prisoner detention and suspension of habeus corpus.

Violating the Constitution by arbitrarily detaining Americans, legal residents, and non-Americans, without due process, without charge, and without access to counsel.
9

Criminal negligence, and failure to perform mandated duties.

Criminal negligence in failing to provide American troops with adequate armor before sending them into a war of choice, criminal negligence in going to war against a weak, third-world nation without any planning for post war occupation and reconstruction, criminal negligence in failing to respond to a known and growing crisis in the storm-blasted city of New Orleans, and criminal negligence in failing to act, and in fact in actively obstructing efforts by other countries and American state governments, to deal with the looming crisis of global warming.
10

Abuse of power - signing statements.

Abuse of power, undermining of the Constitution and violating the presidential oath of office by deliberately refusing to administer over 750 acts duly passed into law by the Congress--actions which if left unchallenged would make the Congress a vestigial body, and the president a dictator.

Bush has been caught red handed lying to the American people....again.

www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/200…

On the morning of November 13, 2007, MIchael V. Hayden, Bush's own CIA director told Bush and the Iraq study group that, "the inability of the (Maliki) government to govern seems irreversible," and that he could not, "point to any milestone or checkpoint where we can turn this thing around," and, "The government is unable to govern," Hayden concluded. "We have spent a lot of energy and treasure creating a government that is balanced, and it cannot function."

Bush later lied to the American people, saying, "A constitutional order is emerging"

789 young Americans have died since November 13.
12

Gross incompetence, dishonesty, and delusional behavior.

www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/200…

Five and one half years after 9/11, al Qaeda is stronger that before 9/11, and Bush's war in Iraq has inspired thousands of new jihadis worldwide. We are LESS SAFE AS A RESULT OF BUSH'S "WAR ON TERROR"
13

On 07/20/07 Bush issued an order once again allowing "extereme" interrogation mathods.

The Supreme Court ruled last year that the US government could not ignore the Geneva Accords by torturing prisoners in secret concentration camps in other countries. King George decided that what was missing was a royal edict, so he signed such an edict yesterday. He apparently believes that the only supreme law of the land is his word.

Add commuting Libby's sentence to this list. Although not as life/death as the Iraq War, I believe it sums up this administration better than anything else. Its their M.O. to function as if they are above the law of our country, international law, or the good of the people.
Noahplaid_thumb Noahposted 515 days ago
I am going to agree with all of this except Noah's comment. Look at all of our recent presidents and the pardons they gave. Commuting a sentence is pretty minor. I am just not sure how Cheney or Rove escaped prosecution for outing a CIA operative. Who gives a shit about this Scooter guy.

Nick the answer to your question about how Rove and Cheney escaped prosecution proves my point. Libby was the fall guy and he got a get out of jail free card for it. Commuting a sentence for your VPs Chief of Staff in a case that almost certainly went deeper looks pretty shady to me. Its indicative of a pattern of abuse of the laws IMO.
Noahplaid_thumb Noahposted 515 days ago
I guess my point was that commuting a sentence or even a pardon for an administration crony is not that unusual and is almost expected(I will be surprised if Scooter isnt eventually pardoned. But I do agree that it is kind of like the icing on the cake for this administration.

I believe a point is being missed here. Everyone Bush I, or Clinton pardoned had actually exhausted the appeals process, and served time.

This was actually pretty clever. If Dubya pardoned him he would not have been able to take the fifth in future court proceedings, but a commutation does not wipe out the conviction so he will still be able to refuse to testify before a court or congress, because his appleal will still be going on. Very clever. That's how you know it was Cheney's idea.

Just a question...If you actually got Pres. Bush impeached; wouldn't we then end up with VP Cheney? I would imagine that all of you would hate that even more. I'm just sayin...

Sorry, I hit post too soon. Can you impeach both at the same time? I really don't know the Constitutional Law on these matters. Then wouldn't that give Speaker Pelosi a heads up over Hillary?

I disagree with Ol Hippie. It's too late. Don't bother to try and impeach him now. Just study the issues and candidates and work hard to get the guy you most agree with elected. Many of you hate Pres. Bush and you are entitled. I'm not going to debate the pros and cons of various administrations. Just take responsibility for your futures.

so. do you feel strongly about this?

kidding. just trying to lighten the moooooood.

I'm sorry Pam. Kelly is right. I've deleted both of my rants. These guys are just making me crazy.

Why don't we not allow anybody who voted for Bush to vote this time. I don't trust Americans to do the right thing this time either.

No need to 'stifle' yourself for me. I'm a big girl and I can take it. Besides, you were totally right (as in correct) about saying I didn't have to comment. Of course my point was that the youngin's should learn, assess and do. We live in a wonderful county that allows all of us to have opinions, voice them and vote accordingly. And, Robin, almost half of the voting Americans were with you the last two times.

PS - The daughter was angry, thought you were "being mean to her mom". I told her you are just passionate about your beliefs.
Pam-oml-avatar-2_thumb Pamposted 510 days ago
No problem Pam. I apologize, your daughter was right. I do tend to rave a bit. I somtimes forget that millions of people get most of their news from Fox Noise, and don't see the full extent of this administration's contempt for the Constitution. In your "red" list you deffered to the Bill of Rights a couple of times, and that IS the hill I've chosen to die on. I've been a political activist fighting to defend the Bill of Rights for 40 years. When I see these guys viewing the Constitution as a minor annoyance, I want them gone.

In March of 1933 Adolph HItler's National Socialist Party (which, by the way, had been elected by the German people in a landslide)burned down the Riechstag and blamed the communists. The next day, Hitler signed the "Enabling Act" which "temporarily" suspended civil liberties. In his speech, he promised to eradicate the evil doers, and return Germany to it's rightful position as a World power. This position was cheered by over 60% of the German people.

Bush's speech of 9/13/01 was basically the same speech.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
