Introduction
Many of you have vociferously disagreed with my politics. Fair enough. Now you have aroused my curiosity. I am not posing these questions in an argumentative manner. They are simply what you, who do not like our current leadership, see as the future if Clinton, Edwards, Obama, Gore win in 2008. I will try not to use any verbiage biased one way or the other.
Iraq
You want us out. What happens to Iraq? To the region? Do we just up and leave? Keep a presence? Get out of Afghanistan too?
Radical Islamists
Will they back down with a Democrat in the office? What do we do if they don't?
Borders
Will our borders be borders? Or should we just open it up to all who want to live here?
Undocumented residents
Will they all become citizens with the rights and privileges therein? Should they? What about our schools, health care, etc.?
Socialized Medicine
I, personally, think that is a done deal. No matter who gets in. Too many people want it and there are so many falling through the cracks now, something will have to be done.
Welfare
There will most likely be more and expanded programs. How will they be funded?
Military
Should we reduce the size and scope of our military? Or, should we keep what we have in case we need to deploy elsewhere (Iran).
Lobbists
In or out? Will there be more accountability and less corruption?
I'm seriously interested in what you all have to say...no tussle intended.
As an outsider looking in, your next Prez. should pull back and try to heal relations with pretty much the rest of the world.... as Bush has pissed off a LOT of countries.
Give Iraq lots of aid and get your soldiers the hell out of there. Afganistan isn't anywhere NEAR finished..... Bush started the fight and then dropped it into NATO's hands.... which is wrong.
All of this silliness so that George Jr. could finish off the battles that his dad couldn't when he was in office.
Undocumented residents and welfare go hand in hand in any country. Some illegal immigrants don't work, a lot do. The ones that do find work are taking jobs away from American citizens that want work but can't find it. This puts good Americans on welfare when they don't want to be but have no choice.

Your military spending is driving the next 2-3 generations of Americans into a deep deficit.
It should be curbed a bit in my opinion, but at the same time you need to be able to defend yourselves. There is no need to have your military constantly "forwardly deployed"..... unless your President is George W. Bush and has pissed off most of the planet... not to mention the Islamic radicals.
We are all targets of Islamic Radicals. They do not agree with our way of life.
And if a Democrat is elected..... I have a sneaky suspicion that the terror level will go down some.... it was never that high until your current administration.
Again... just an outsider's opinion :)

1. Iraq - Well, to paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, Iraq is like a holding a wolf by its ears. You can neither hold him safely nor let him go. We can't just up and pull out; it will take one to two years to get all of our people and equipment out, and it will be very dangerous. I like Joe Biden's plan to allow the three Islamic factions to each control their own state, and a very small federal government to divide the oil, provide central services. Sort of the same plan we used in the Balkans and Czechoslovakia. I would set a date certain that we would start pulling back from Bagdhad, and keep roughly 75,000 troops there to help secure the borders and allow the country to stabalize somewhat. Then when the Iraqi government asked us to go, I'd go.

2. Afghanastan - Afghanistan is in chaos, and cannot be controlled; the Soviet Union went bankrupt trying. All we are doing is patrolling a 20 mile wide path where our pipeline is being built. That is the only reason we are there. That is really what this is all about.
In the late 70 a global thermal imaging satallite determined that there is more oil and gas in the Caspian basin primarily in Turkmenistan that there is in the rest of the MIddle East. The Soviet Union immediately invaded Afghanistan, because they controlled Turkmenistan, and need a route to get the oil and gas out to the Persian Gulf. We gave money and arms to the Taliban, and Osama Bin Laden to help them fight the USSR. In 1982, we gave Pakistan $3.2 billion military and economic aid to also help fight the USSR.
We gave billions to Saddam Hussein to fight Iran, we gave him chemical weapons which he used on the Kurds. So, the whole deal is to see who will control the Northern Persian Gulf and therefore have easy access to the oil and gas in Turkmenistan. Saddam and the Taliban got greedy, so we had to take them out. I don't care about Osama bin Laden, if the CIA and the oil companies wanted him dead, he would be dead.

Radical Islamists - Leave then the hell alone. Sorry raant, but they don't give a fat rat's ass about our way of life. They don't hate us because we are free. Think about it. They are not attacking Sweden, Belgium. Norway, Brazil, Costa Rica, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands...do I need to go on. There are over 100 democracies in the world not being attacked. Why do they choose to attack us? 1. We support the dictatorial Saudi royal family, who are easily as bad as Saddam. 2. We support Israel, right or wrong. We give Israel modern technology and money. Israel's enemies only weapon is wrapping explosives around their children. 3. We try to steal their oil and tell them how to run their own countries.
Leave them alone, tell Israel to piss off, we can't afford them anynore. Buy their oil and leave them alone.

Borders/Undocumented residents. We have a saying in my business: If it don't stink, don't stir it. The system has been working fine for the past 30 years. They get to live in shacks, or under bushes, they get to pick lettuce, or strawberries, or whatever for 16 hours a day for $50.00, and we get or fruit and produce cheap; we get our lawns mowed and trimmed for $100.00/month (The high school kids in my neighborhood won't do it for that.), you can get new roof for $7,000.00. It is not going to change, any politician claiming it will is just lying. You won't stand for a change, you won't pay $4.75 for a heaqd of lettuce. This is a non issue.

Welfare/Socialized Medecine - raant explained socialized medecine beautifully, so I'll address funding. Never in the history of the world has supply side economics worked. If you want to stimulate the economy, give the tax breaks to people who will spend the money on food, and televisions, and cars. How many of you wait each year for your tax refund to make a big purchase? To stimulate the economy you must create demand. Create new jobs, the old ones are NEVER coming back. Develop renewable and alternative energy, that will create jobs. When the budget was balanced in 1998-2000, it was because during the 90s, 8 million new jobs were created, and those people stopped collecting unemployment, and started paying taxes. Trust me, if 100,000 more people want to buy a new Chevy next year, GM will find a way to build them without any help from tax cuts. Just think about it; social security is the most efficient way to recycle money there ever was; every red cent is paid out is spent within 30 days, back into the economy. And the conservatives want to stop it. All it takes is commn sense.
That is all I can do tonight.
