Introduction
just some random questions and thoughts.
1
Is Rudy Guiliani really the Republican front runner?
How in the hell can this guy be in the lead? I mean this guy has more moral indiscretions in his past than Axl Rose. He's pro choice and he's going to carry the conservative right?! This whole Giuliani thing blows me away! I can't stop using exclamation points!
The only thing this guy brings is national security cred and I might add that I think he is given WAY TOO MUCH credit in this department. He would be an absolute disaster as President.

What about Biden and Dodd?
I've been as guilty as the next guy of only speaking about Clinton and Obama. I've even stopped talking about Edwards. However, every time I've seen or heard Biden or Dodd they seemed impressive. They certainly have major experience advantages, on a whole range of issues, than the big three. I see either of them as a much safer choice than anyone else.
I guess its just a forgone conclusion that they can't win. Isn't it? Doesn't something about that seem wrong?

Would Obama be at a huge risk for assination?
It's disgusting that I even thought about this but...
4
Would Obama be Clinton's VP or vice versa?
What's does history say on this? Its hard to see it happening at this point but it's an interesting thought. Seems more likely that you'd see Biden or Dodd in this role.

Can a Republican even be elected?
Seems almost impossible at this point that any Republican candidate is going to get elected. I don't see how any of the Republicans swing anything more than medium conservatives on over to the far right votes. I guess Hillary might have enough of a negative reaction among some people to change the dynamic but that seems unlikely. People want change.

Will there be some third candidate a la Ross Perot?
Bloomberg? What are the rules on this?
1. I'd love to see the right nminate Rudy. He is pond scum.
2. You are right; every time I take one of those "match the candidate" quizes, I am matched as a tie with Biden and Dodd. Experience and intellegence mean nothing these days.
3. No more than Hillary. Probably the same guy, most misogynists are also racists.
4. No. I believe either Obama or Clinton would be better served to choose Richardson; he is from a Western swing state, and a foreign policy expert.
5. Not if we work hard and Brahma is with us.
6. Bloomberg would pull more from the right than the left, I believe, but his ego is too big to run and loose, so I think not.

What about Ron Paul, not my choice, but I could see him running as a third party choice? Don't you have to run on a party that has been on the ballot in enough states to make a difference? That could be a problem for Paul.
I agree with OH about Richardson.
Wouldn't any of the Republicans be a change from what we have now? None of them have appeared to have the tunnel vision that Bush does; the whole my way or the highway attitude.
I'm not sure a Republican would be elected as a first choice; but a non-Hillary could be elected. Plus it's really all about the Electoral College and the red / blue states are fairly evenly divided right now aren't they? Mr. Hippie would be more on top of this than I am.

thanks to bush's performance, this election should be handed to a democrat on a silver platter. however, i am afraid and not so sure. the two democratic front runners are 1) a woman and 2) an african american. i personally am thrilled to see the diversity, but unfortunately there are PLENTY of people who will vote for a white male because he's just that - a white male. they won't bother to do their homework or care about the candidate's platform. they'll just vote for what is familiar and what makes them comfortable. scary.
based on the fact that hillary's campaign offices have already been held hostage, i do fear for her and obama's security. doubly scary.

The good news, Kelly, is the guy who went into Hillary's office wasn't making a political statement; he just wanted publicity.
I think Hillary will win. I also think we will still be talking about pulling troops out of Iraq this time four years from now when she is running for re-election. And Obama will have his chance. She knows in her gut that we can't just leave. She also knows, that as a female, she will have to show a toughness militarily. Both of which will lead her to not just pull out. My guess is she will disappoint a lot of supporters because of it.
What think you Mr. Hippie?

I think you are right on, Pam. I doubt that any of we people who can actually think, will have a say. 35% - 40% will always vote democratic, 35% - 40% will always vote republican. Campaigns are for the 20% to 30% of the people who have no core values, and can be swayed by a catchy sound bite, or a "gotcha" moment. As I have said, I believe Hillary will get the nomination, choose Richardson, and win. There are millions of women "of an age" out there who have been waiting their whole lives to flip the lever for a woman. She may not be anyone's first choice as "that" woman, but when the voting booth curtain closes, they will flip that lever. She will not withdraw from Iraq, or Afghanistan. Best hope? She won't start any new wars, and she will use Bill to patch things up with our traditional allies.
