Introduction
some amusing tidbits about my husband and why i love him so
food appreciation
when nate sits down to a meal he smells his food, it does not matter what it is, even a ham sandwich. and it's not just a little whif, it's a long 30 second or so smell. also, sometimes when he thinks that no one is watching, he talks to his food. not too long ago, he was pulling a pizza that he had made out of the oven and said, "ahh, pepperoni, you sweet little temptress."
the kicks
nate will get on a kick where he wants to learn something and will do so until he can possibly learn no more about that subject. most of the time this is to my benefit. his baking kick has turned out some of the finest homemade bread that i've tasted, the smoking kick rendered huge hunks of smoked meat and lots of animal body part education. beer making filled our bathtub with bottles of home brew for weeks. and so it goes. cant wait to see whats next.
nester
i learned this one after we were married. i call nate "nester" because he does not thow anything away. what was once stored in his parents attic came to our home. atm recipts from college, old sports articles and along with this is sweet stuff like every note that i have put in his lunch bag. these occasionally will accumulate in "nests" that require close monitoring. therefore he is nester. better than chester, i guess.
big booty mama
i will never need to worry about nate asking me to drop a few pounds. his celeb list includes queen latifah and jennifer hudson (his newfound love). to imagine nate, who's about a 155lb and quite white, shacking up with latifah...anyway, he's contstantly trying to get me to hit a pizza buffet and thinks a girl should never be a size that's not a double digit.
sleep talker
nate is really vocal in his sleep. just last night he said quite loudly, "pass the mother fuc*in corn on the cob!" it's funny, because he dosent even really like corn on the cob that much.
left/right
nate is one of those few people that i know who is both "left" and "right" brained. he is a writer and has a degree in creative writing, so has that whole english thing down, but is also an RN, so he totally digs the science math stuff. totally funny and creative but when he is bored, he does this weird math thing in his head where he multiplies each number by the sum of the other number. four x's four is sixteen. sixteen x's sixteen is two hundred and fifty six. i did that with a calculator.
on his toes
nate is constantly having to remind me to turn off the stove when i leave (with good reason), lock the door, or sometimes i lock the door but forget to close the door, get my handbag/camera/wallet. this boy is on his toes and never even blinks an eye. i think you need one of those in the relationship. and he'll move and travel just about anywhere with me. i love that.
What a good idea to remind ourselves of why we love someone so much that we committed to spend the rest of our lives with them. I love this list every time I read it!
