Introduction

Opal Lizzie Stottlemyre Osbourn, born Oct. 30, 1903 passed to her beloved Maker May, 2006. Her unconditional love, deep faith and lemon meringue pie had a profound effect on my life.

1

"Add a little sugar and a little fat to everything. It makes it better."

2

"Pretty is as pretty does. Ugly holds its own. Pretty soon fades away. Ugly holds its own."

3

"Humphh" says a lot.

4

"The end of time is coming. You better be ready."

5

"Cookies can be eaten any time of the day."

6

"Too bad you have to hide brown eyes behind ugly glasses."

7

"I can't explain how I got my faith. I just got it."

8

"Do whatever you want. I trust you. I know you won't do whatever you want."

9

"Treat your chickens like they are of great importance."

Everyone and everything benefited from my grandmother's nurturing except my grandfather's hound dogs who were delivered swift kicks when they found the cool spot in my grandma's flowers.

I know your Grandma O is in the heaven she imagined, just as described in her Bible; streets of gold, etc. God Bless Her.
