Things I should care about and really just don't

Introduction
There are just some things / people who do not pique my interest. Most people would find these weird; but that's okay.
Music
I enjoy oldies, well some oldies. But not really enough to listen to them. The two CDs in my car are a Beatles mix my daughter made and a Sinatra best of. When I put some Christmas CDs in the player this year, there were still Christmas ones in it from last year.
I prefer to not have background noise while working, reading or on the computer; no TV, no music. My car radio is set up with all of the talk stations or it is just off. And it's been a long time since I just sat around listening to a new music purchase. It was probably an album, you know the big, black plastic things. I think it might have been Jesus Christ, Superstar.
Sorry, Raant. I know that music is one of your passions...

The Simpsons
Either the animated variety or the singing sisters. Don't care that much about either one. I did go with the son to see The Simpsons movie and it was amusing; unfortunately I wasn't familiar with alot of the characters as I am not a regular viewer.
New foods
There are so many new food types that I can't keep up, so I just don't try. New breads, new cheeses, new sauces, etc.
From one of the preferred restaurants in Springfield:
"Veal Cannelloni - rolled in crepes, fresh basil, truffle-riesling cream & tomato ragout, spinach" I know what spinach is...
And what is the big deal about sun-dried tomatoes?

Designer items
The daughter of some friends was all about Juicy Couture...Kate Spade I know. Juicy Couture? Not so much, nor do I care. Don't really care about Kate Spade either. J C Penneys makes a dandy purse.
Sitcoms
I went from being a Sitcom junkie with 3 VCRs going at one time if I was going to be out to not even knowing what shows are on or who is in them. I'm constantly seeing new faces on commercials or in magazines and asking who is that person? Then I'm told, "you know the guy on such and such a show." And I have to admit, no I really don't know. Then I wonder why I bothered to ask. Hmmm...
Spring
Every body is all about Spring - the season. I like fall the best and winter second best. I'm depressed when the trees start to bud out and I know that pretty soon they will be all leafy again. I know this is odd. Maybe it has something to do with growing up in Phoenix where things are open and you can see for a long way. In Missouri, during the summer you can't even see past your backyard; unless you live in a new sub-division with just one tree. I get claustrophobic sometimes driving on some of the roads engulfed on either side by trees.
Gizmos
I am such an electronic moron. I have no understanding of Blue Tooth (my teeth turn blue after drinking an Icee but I don't think it is the same thing), Blu-Ray, LCDHDTV, pixels, or any of that other stuff. Nor do I want to. I learn it as I go when in the market to purchase something expensive. Otherwise, it is a foreign language.
Speaking of foreign language
Nope, I don't know any and don't care to. I took French for two years in high school. I can count to ten, ask what time it is and tell you my name. Spanish would be the obvious choice these days, but it's not gonna happen. I live in a predominately English speaking country and feel that residents should learn English. If I move to Spain, France or England; I will learn their language.
Jeans
It seems that it is important to wear just the right brand of jeans. All I care about is how they fit, are they comfortable enough for the length of time I will be wearing them and will I be able to find the same style from the same company when I need to buy new ones and under $50 is preferred. That's it.
Models
They are all beautiful and a bunch of them look just alike. I admit that they are pleasant to view; but I don't care enough about them to know their names or read about them in People Magazine. Well, I don't read about anybody in People Magazine. It can be entertaining; living the high life vicariously through other people, but I would rather spend my time reading a book.
Comics
Brie and her friend had 5th row seats to see Dane Cook in Kansas City Thanksgiving weekend. They were beside themselves with anticipation. That is all they talked about. I finally had to admit I didn't know who Dane Cook is.
This is how the conversation went:
"Mommmm...he was recently in that movie with Kevin Costner where they kill people."
"Okay, so are you going to see a movie in Kansas City that I saw for $2.50 in Springfield?"
"NOOO! he does stand up comedy, he is sooooo funny!" And we have 5th row seats, he will be able to see I have my new UGGS on."
Come to find out she paid more for the Dane Cook tickets than for the UGGS. Go figure. They had fun, I still don't know who he is; or for that matter any of the other stand up comedians working these days. And I REALLY don't get into the "git 'er done" phenomenon.

Oh thank you! I have too many friends wearing $200 jeans. Though I disagree on the whole new food thing...

Great list, Pam! I agree with some of these items. I'm not much of a fan of the Simpsons, and I prefer tomatoes to be homegrown, juicy, and fresh off the vine. I'm with you on the designer jeans issue too. I can't imagine my life without music in it though! :-)

We shouldn't care about the same things. We don't have time and it wouldn't work!
