SNOW!!!!
How can you not love waking up in the morning to a fresh layer of frosting on the whole world?
2
Ice Storms
I know, they wreak havoc on the power grid and rip branches off of trees, but so beautiful! I think it's a small price to pay.
3
The cold
I hear people down here in Oklahoma and Missouri talk about being cold. Pshaw. I lived in Minnesota. It's not really cold until your boogers freeze. That icy air crystallizing in your sinuses... heaven.
4
Snow days!
The libraries and schools close down here when it's perfectly safe for experienced snow drivers to get around. It's wonderful!
5
Christmas, Hanukkah, Solstice, Yule, New Years
Let's face it. Winter totally rocks the holidays. What does summer have, Independence Day? Puh-lease!
6
Hot chocolate
Sure, you can drink it any time, but there's nothing like a steaming mug when there's frost on the windows.

Kids
Winter is simply magic for children. The awe and wonder on my boys' faces when they first see the snow falling, the snowmen, the snowball fights, sledding, snow angels. I guess that's why I love it so much. I'm still a kid at heart.
my list wants to fight your list (summer can get a little hot under the collar) :)

I love winter too until New Years is over, after which there is nothing to look forward to. Then it's just depressing for a few months until around April, when things start to warm up and we start to think about going to the lake, the pool, float trips, etc.!

Being raised in AZ I didn't know about the glories of winter until I moved to MO. Yes, to all of those things you listed, well maybe not the ice storm - being out of power for a week will make you rethink that. I would add winter clothes; sweaters, scarves, hats...

I have to go with Kelly on this one. Winter sucks, summer rocks my socks off.

Fall, winter, spring. All of it except July, August! I WILL give summer credit for the long days.

Winter totally rocks. I too lived in Minnesota for a year; that first deep breath outside when it is 27 below zero? Now that will wake you up!
Besides, I look so damn good in a sweater.
