A U.S. military helicopter crashed today in northern Italy, killing at least four people on board and injuring several others. Italy's ANSA news agency reported the Black Hawk helicopter had taken off from Aviano Air Base with 10 people on board.

U.S. safety officials have voluntarily recalled about 4.2 million Chinese-made Aqua Dots toys contaminated with a powerful "date rape" drug that has caused some children to vomit and lose consciousness upon ingesting the contents.

The state of emergency in Pakistan will be in place for at least a month, and parliamentary elections will be held sometime around February 15, Pakistan's ruling party president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain told CNN Thursday.

More than 25 percent of the homeless population in the United States are war veterans, although they represent only 11 percent of the civilian adult population, according to a report being released this morning. On any given night last year, nearly 196,000 veterans slept on the street, in a shelter or in transitional housing, the study by the Homelessness Research Institute found.
