Introduction
this is a list of all of the concerts i can remember going to. i'm sure i've forgotten about one third of them....at least the obscure bands noah insists on seeing.
1
damn yankees
west plains missouri civic center. this was my first unchaperoned concert. i got ted nugent's guitar pick AND a sliver of his smashed guitar. in a zip lock baggie somewhere at my parent's house. hells yeah.
2
aerosmith / collective soul
took about nine of my high school friends up to this show in KC in my parent's suburban. when my love affair with collective soul began.
3
collective soul
lots of times. drumstick signed by the band was one of my prized possessions. yup. i'm a groupie.
4
matchbox 20 / jackopierce
springfield, mo. i was there to see jackopierce. matchbox 20 opened. there were 12 people there.
5
dishwalla
why not. i got a speeding ticket on my way there. i must've been PSYCHED.
6
the rembrandts, del amitri or the smithereens
at the regency in springfield. it was one of these bands. i can't remember which. does it matter?
7
dido
boston.
8
the doves
boston too.
9
U2 - elevation tour
same tour, two shows. one show came from being caller 25 at a radio station. second show came from meeting bono. lucky week.
10
wilco
once in columbia, mo. once in paris. paris show was UNREAL.
11
ben kweller
once in boston. once in paris. met him in paris.
12
coldplay
at the zenith in paris. it was so good. i cried. i bet i looked like that girl that sanjaya made cry on american idol.
13
the white stripes
jack white can command a stage.
14
sting
with zoe in boston. oh stingers.
15
red hot chili peppers
once in paris, once in st. louis. i was CONVINCED i was going to quit my job, take bass lessons, and become the female flea.
16
kings of leon
once in L.A., once in st. louis. the show in the lou was on my 28th birthday and we hung out on the tour bus afterwards. best time.
17
robert randolph and the family band
these guys know how to rock. met them too and embarrassingly tried to do the beyonce booty shake. they were nice about it. they were playing the grammy's the next week.
18
black rebel motorcycle club
in paris. better on CD than live.
19
the killers
once in st. louis, once in san francisco. good show.
20
widespread panic
in boston and berkeley. noah loves them with all his heart can muster, so i kind of like them.
21
jack johnson
in boston at the orpheum with a million teenagers.
22
danielson famile
san francisco. weird stuff. siblings that dress in homemade costumes that range from police officer to tree.
23
bloc party
san francisco. bad venue, good band.
24
ray lamontagne
oakland at the paramount. music was snoozy, but the theater was incredible.
25
beck
the "rock en seine" festival in paris.
26
electric six
same festival. great band.
27
someone still loves you boris yeltsin
best show by far was in our back yard in missouri! we've seen them twice in san franfrisky.
28
tv on the radio
powerful show.
29
lyle lovett
saw him in santa rosa with the girls from work. went backstage, courtesy of his fiancee. he's very very nice.
30
of montreal
saw them for only a few songs. got the news of my grandfather's death while we were there. every time i hear them, i think of him. this bodes well for the band.
31
the sleepy jackson
in paris. great show...this is band i'd love to see again the most. they NEVER tour.
32
stockholm syndrome
in paris and amsterdam. dave schools (widespread panic) and jerry joseph's band.
33
sigur ros
an icelandic band we saw in boston. they've created their own language. it's was a very interesting show...in a good way.
34
my morning jacket
in paris...same show as the sleepy jackson. they might be the hairiest band i've ever seen.
35
hot hot heat
same show. they weren't too memorable.
36
damien rice
wow...the chick who sings with him is otherworldly. her voice haunts me. he signed CD's for us & katy.
37
the shins
in san francisco and in st. louis. i was surprised by the amount of energy they had.
38
arcade fire
HA! saw arcade fire with noah and john. greek in berkeley. great show, and i love the girl in the band.
39
radiohead
in paris. trippy.
40
george clinton and the p-funk allstars
in NYC with kevin journagan.
41
nelly
what a disappointment. i love nelly. all these dudes did was stand around, yell into the mikes and grab their crotches. and promote energy drink de jour.
42
lenny kravitz
just saw lenny kravitz at the fillmore for a private taping for a promotional piece. the promotional part was a bit disturbing, but he was great, and the crowd was small. sweet.
43
vampire weekend
these collegiate cuties played at the independent. i was having weird vertigo from the lights, but still managed to enjoy the show. they brought out a string quartet to join for the last three songs. loved it.
44
ghostland observatory
noah and i discovered this gem of a band (or "sound scapeists") on austin city limits. we saw them at mezzanine. i'll let their bio speak for them:
Ghostland Observatory is the duo of front man Aaron Behrens and producer/drummer Thomas Turner. Behrens’ vocal style and stage performances are unique and uncompromising, and he has drawn early comparisons to Freddie Mercury and Prince. Turner is heavily influenced by electronic artists such as Daft Punk, Laurent Garnier and Green Velvet, as well as rockers such as The Animals, David Bowie, and The Clash. With their spectral blend of electronics, drums, guitar and vocals, they have emerged with a sound that is the culmination of past influence and present inspiration, and can only be described as BALLSY.

I love like 95% of this list. I don't do the concert thing much though. I always forget when tickets go on sale and miss out. Last concert I went to was U2, October 2006. Last concert I was supposed to go to was The Killers. But things happened and some guy got a GREAT deal on my two tickets on craigslist.

I could have sworn you went to see Arcade Fire. I guess that was some other Kelly Dorrance sitting next to me.
