Introduction
countless hours spent searching, sifting...listening
1
"Word Up" -- Willis
a soothing version of a Cameo classic
2
"Originality" -- Thievery Corporation
Involuntary bobbing of the head
3
"Ai Du" -- Ali Farka Toure & Ry Cooder
First heard this one from the movie "Unfaithful" (bathtub scene), though it was nowhere to be found on the soundtrack. Had to do some digging.
4
"Flashback" -- Fat Freddy's Drop
At present, this band is probably in my top five. I'd love to head out to New Zealand to see them live.
5
"D'Artagnan's Theme" -- Citizen Cope
A bartender at a Lower East Side bar (Tribe) was closing up shop one morning and he put this album on. I had him write it down on a napkin for me. In return, I wrote down Finley Quaye -- Maverick a Strike.
6
"Flip Ya Lid" -- Nightmares On Wax
The listening stations at Virgin Records reside on all floors. Lot's of gems to be found. Seek...
7
"Heaven's In the Backseat of My Cadillac" -- Stereo Total
First heard this on the radio at a great little burger joint hidden inside the Parker Meridien Hotel NYC. Great burgers...
8
"Glorious" -- Sa-Ra Creative Partners
A more recent acquisition. Funky as f*ck!
9
"Untitled" -- Amon Tobin & Kid Koala
A Tower Records listening station in NYC...spooky, w/ seductive piano loop.
10
"Your Love Gets Sweeter" -- Finley Quaye
Found Finley Quaye while stationed in South Korea, whilst messing around with MSN Radio... I love me some Finley (Maverick A Strike).
11
"El Cielo" -- Radio Citizen featuring Bajka
www.pandora.com is an excellent source for finding new music. This track slyly slithered through the headphones, and licked me upon the neck.
12
"Can I Get a Witness" -- Sofa Surfers
I'd normally close with some John Lee Hooker live, but this one...this one is special. Truly...
