James was a shrewd but talented person. He was an amazing and unique singer that could energize any crowd with his super sized personality and showmanship.
He also drank heavy, womanized, did drugs and fined his musicians anywhere from $100 to $500 for EVERY sour note that they played.... even in rehearsal!!
