Introduction
Yeah the 80's Bitchis! The 80's had a lot to offer! I had 30 entries, but I am sure I will get more.
Dead Kennedy's
Defined my political outlook for years. I haven't heard too much from Jello Biafra lately, but what he said made a lot of sense.
Black Flag
Great party music for punkers. Full of anger and snot guzzling rudeness!
Sex Pistols
uh Hello, Sex Pistols no FUCKING explanation needed.
The Clash
Awesome, saw them at red rocks. Joe strummer wore my Feather Enterprises Combat Accesories t-Shirt in Cream magazine.
Suicidal Tendencies
Great band to see live, scary body guards.
Social Distortion
Mommy's Little monster, instant classic.
DEVO
Yes these guys are ahead of their time.
Oingo Boingo
Awesome band. I loved Elfmans lyrics.
Circle Jerks
Great fun band. Awesome live.
X
Incredible live. I was blown away.
Flipper
They paved the way for Nirvana!
Big Boys
Great original Skate band from Austin.
Butthole Surfers
What can I say. to see them live is to have lived.
Warlock Pinchers
these guys would have exploded big time if they hit in the 90's rather than the 80's.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Great band early on. Too bad they got all crappy.
Plasmatics
OMG these guys ruled. never given enough cred.
Kraftwerk
I know I am a geek. These guys made my world come alive through computers!
Yello
perhaps the most famous "Oh yeah" in the world. Yello was always on my road trip music.
the Residents
Complete weirdification.
Kamikaze Klones
Perhaps the best college band out there. Wonder what happened to them.
Helios Creed
What can I say. He is the master. me and the Robin saw him in SF. Best SHOW ever. (Well i think so anyway :) )
Sisters of Mercy
Oh the glorious goth!
Killing Joke
me love this band.
the Vandals
Awesome band. Anarchy Burger hold the guvmint please!
The Exploited
Awesome loud mouth Yobs with early skinhead styling.
the Anti-Nowhere League
Not great but the song "I hate People" is used to demonstrate Sociopathy in college text books. Awesome!
Adam Ants
Ant music!
Split Enz
I liked a few songs, but I listened all the time. the Laser etched vinyl was killer!
Crispin Hellion Glover
Yes the wierdest actor in the world had an album. Very weird but I loved it.
T.S.O.L.
Early goth punk.
Classix Nouveau
i found something in my phone every home will have one, Micro camera Microphone....
Camper Van Beethoven
Yes, thanks Trevor for the refresh! take the Skinheads bowling! Awesome!
Agent Orange
Awesome band. I loved Agent Orange.
G.B.H.
these guys paved the way for Slayer. (My opinion)
Minutemen
I was stunned when D. Boon died in the Van Accident in Arizona.
in the 80's, i was a big prog.alt.punk geek on stuff like The Clash, D.K., Black Flag, Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Hüsker Dü, Meat Puppets, TSOL, Agent Orange, The Replacements, Camper Van Beethoven, Gang of Four...
the list could go for miles.

today's indie scene would be nothing without a lot of those bands.

Do you think that Jello Biafra just kind of giggles at what the world has become? If you listen to "California Uber Alles", "Goons of Hazzard" or my favorite "MTV Get Off the Air" you get a perspective that is really lacking today. Most bands today that would list the Kennedy's as an influence would do the exact opposite of them and sell their souls for $$$. I also forgot "Pull My Strings", the true story of Interscope Records. My brother had a Biafra spoken word album that was full of good stuff. Also rent the documentary "Punk", he plays a prominent role.

at some point in high school, i had a VHS of the Dead Kennedys - Live. in the typical punk way, i loaned it to someone, they loaned it to someone else, who loaned it to someone else... i never saw it again.

Great list Mr. Lister.

Oh Mr. Lister, I beg to differ on the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They've been good all the way through. Not many bands can pull that off!

Great list. And some people said the 80s sucked for music...so wrong.

Its crazy that Social D is still touring. They've got to be one of the hardest working bands in rock.
