Introduction
"Thought provoking" is one of the most common phrases that critics and journalists have thrown about when talking about "Crash." Here's what I learned:
1
To win an Academy Award you should have ideas you want to express
You should then write "characters" who act on something that only vaguely resembles real human motivation. Throughout the course of the film you should clumsily put them in contrived situations and make them do silly things to illustrate those ideas.
2
Asian immigrants are shrill and obnoxious, but if you look closer you will see the universal emotions that all loving families have.
Then if you look closer again, you'll see they are trafficking slaves.
3
A rug can only be pulled out from under you if you are standing on it
Otherwise, you can just watch the puller hold the rug expectantly and then look like a fool when he flails it in the air, (in this movie usually twice in quick succession, see above). Viewing hint: if you think you are supposed to assume something about a character, wait about a minute and there will be an attempt to totally blow you mind by showing you that you were wrong for making that assumption, but don't get too comfortable, cause that new thing you just assumed is gonna get turned on its head too (double the learning!)
4
Middle Eastern immigrants are irrational and given to fits of violent rage
luckily some have (hot!) Americanized daughters who try to cool their savage tempers and don't buy into their fervent belief in Islamo-facism (not even a little!)

I've been wanting to ask GWB this question, but he never answers. Please define "Islamo-fascism" for me. I get the Islamo part, but I can't figure out the Fascist part.
