Introduction

Some of the items on this list have been attributed to comedian, Jeff Foxworthy, but others apparently originated elsewhere. I am unable to determine for certain the sources of these.

I grew up in the Marion, Ohio area. We went to the very first Popcorn Festival ever. I've also been to the Circleville Pumpkin Festival--see pictures below. In the area where I live now, the town to the north of us has Montpelier Bean Days Festival which I have been to a few times. The McClure Radish festival is also fairly close to us here, but I've never been to that one.

These are great miss daisy, a lot of them would apply to Missouri too.

Excellent list, daisydear. Made me love my little missoury town, also.
Steve is our mayor.
We know the occupants in the three other vehicles at the 4-way stop.
The policeman will return a basket that fell off your car if it has a paper in it with your name.
The guy at the service station will tell you when your daughter had FIVE people in the front of her dad's truck!!!
The coffee shop lets you come back later to pay when you forget your money...
M-I-Z-Z-O-U! MIzzorah!

Hope you are thawing out a bit!

Thank you all for your very kind words. You made my day. :)

Kathybelle, I'm afraid we're not thawing quite yet. More like we've been on ice so long that freezer burn is starting to set in! }8-{
Two new inches of snow yesterday, four more so far today--it is still coming down. Schools were open yesterday but have closed back up again for today.

I bet if Steve and Doug--our mayor--- got together they'd have some good mayor stories to swap!
Also, "it takes a village" is true here too. On more than one occasion my sons have wished that the good folks of our town weren't quite so "caring." ;-)

I am sorry there is still frost on your pumpkin! :-(

I had to tell you this story - another virtue of villages.
Just now, my mom ran into a deep ditch at the intersection of Hamrick and Hawthorne.
Jamie, an office employee returned from lunch and said, "Kathy, my grandpa just went to tow a car out of the ditch that looks just like your mom's!'
I headed out.
Two minutes later, the editor of the paper called..."Kathy, I just thought I better let you know there is an incident involving your mother..."
It was a crowded intersection. There was the wrecker and his wife (Jamie's grandpa and grandma) James (a man who helps us with yard work) and Rita (a fellow church member.)
My mom looked at me with great disappointment.
"OH NO," she said, "I wanted to get out of here before you saw me!!"
She was fine.
It takes a village.
K_sunglasses_thumb kathybelleposted 127 days ago
Wonderful story, Kathybelle. News travels fast! Your mom should have known you'd hear about it even if she had gotten out before you arrived. :-> I'm so glad she is OK.
Tulips_thumb gratefuldaisyposted 127 days ago
I would like to clarify something. Kathybelle would know the occupants of the vehicles if she EVER LOOKED. I remember sitting at that four way stop, waving & waving at KB, she sitting there oblivious. Then going into the newspaper office where we both kind of worked and saying, "Kathy, why didn't you wave at me?" And she says, I didn't see you and I don't have any idea what vehicles people drive.

I love your village. It helped raise my children, too.

I'm not getting any better, Pambellina!

Update on my 81 year-old ma. She said so many people stopped that it looked like there was an auction going on nearby! She had a great time. I'm a little concerned she has the wrong idea about ditch diving!

Oh me O my O lets get back to OhiO!
