Cool. So how do I get them to look at my political stuff.

Cool about OML being discovered, but I also want to know what Digg is.

Good questions. So what Digg does is collect "stories" from around the internet. Stories are submitted by users who "Digg" them. The first person who Diggs a particular link writes the title, description, picks a category and such. Then subsequent users can Digg the same story by just hitting the "digg" button next to that entry. User votes and comments for a particular story are calculated using some secret algorithm. When a story starts gaining momentum it appears in increasingly more prominent parts of the site. So the Digg community essentially votes on what the top news is. This list caught fire and ended up on the homepage of Digg. Which ended up creating all kinds of auxiliary behavior like other websites/blogs linking to it as well. Which of course created even more traffic.

tips for getting runaway success on Digg.

1) Have a high quality story. Without this there is absolutely no chance

2) Should be either very timely or very unique or very funny.

3) If you satisfy those two qualifications, write a very catchy title and description for the Digg entry.

4) Have as many friends as possible also Digg your story.

5) Digg other stuff on Digg. They seem to be discounting people who only Digg stuff from one site. So use your Digg account liberally. Its pretty easy to do.

There are other sites that work pretty much like Digg. Reddit for example.
