Introduction
I have been wanting to organize some of Benjamin Franklin's thoughts I like. OnMyList seems to be the place:
1
The doors of wisdom are never shut.
2
Lost time is never found again.
3
An innocent plowman is more worthy than a vicious prince.
4
He that speaks much, is much mistaken.
5
Those who in quarrels interpose, must often wipe a bloody nose.
6
All blood is alike ancient.
7
An ounce of wit that is bought, is worth a pound that is taught.
8
One today, is worth two tomorrow.
9
The tongue is ever turning to the aching tooth.
10
Where sense is wanting, everything is wanting.
11
Light purse, heavy heart.
12
Wars bring scars.
13
Wink at small faults, remember thou hast great ones.
14
A true friend is the best possession.
I'm especially partial to #14. Good job, Joe!

Franklin was brilliant. I've read a lot about him. Few people know that he had a habit of using unattributed quotes, and then not arguing when people thought he made them up. In this case, for example, #5 was lifted from John Gay, who died before Franklin was born; #7 is an old Spanish proverb too old for attribution, but it certainly predates Franklin; and #9 actually comes from Thomas Fuller, who died before Franklin was born.

I think you forgot his best "A penny saved is a penny earned"

Ben was a sly cat and an old dog. Wouldn't doubt he borrowed a few. There are so many. Plan to add more.

"The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese." Franklin? Probably not.
