Introduction
First let me apologize to all of you Sissys and Bubbas out there. This is not meant to offend anyone, just to let me get this off of my chest. I don't mind nicknames derived from real names. My name is Pamela, I am called Pam - fair enough. I named my son Tyler and daughter Brianne; they are now Ty and Brie, Not my choice but they are adults and I can live with it. But use some imagination folks!!
1
Sissy
Your sister has a name, use it. It is usually a parent who starts this with a younger sibling not able to pronounce the older kids name. How is the kid ever going to learn if all they hear is Sissy. "Honey, ask Sissy to get you a drink"... If everyone did this all the girls would be Sissy.
2
Bubba
See above. Same idea, different gender (hopefully).
3
Bud, Buddy, Sport
Okay names for a dog.
4
Smitty, Jonesy, etc.
Is the guys first name so bad that he has to go by a stupid derivative of his, incredibly common, last name?
5
Colors
Hey! Red, Blondie, etc. It's late and I'm running low here but you get the idea.
6
Sonny, Junior, Trey
In this family you are only a lesser of the original.
7
Honey, Sweetie, Punkin
These are sweet terms of endearment, to be used occasionally and somewhat privately. Don't send your kid to school thinking her name is Punkin. Now when your son in 24 and at work in his Subway Sandwich Place it is okay to go in and say, "Hi Honey, Bunny" really loud so his co-workers and the other customers can hear you. Then he gives you cookies so you will leave fast.
You ever people called trip and deuce instead of the Charles II or III? On second thought, I actually kind of like trip and deuce.

I knew a Trip in high school; not sure if that's why he was called that or if he was just really clumsy.
