Introduction
Finally! I've been waiting for this for years, and we've finally decided now is the time to start this project. We have a construction friend out of and looking for something, and we have the money in our home equity.
1
Space
A kitchen can never be too big.
2
Additional Eating Area
We've consistently only had one eating area. I want to, a breakfast bar and table. Is that too much to ask?
3
Dishwasher
I spent our time in our first house without a dishwasher as there was no room, and this dishwasher stopped working, so I stopped using it for a year, then started using it again, and while it worked, I found it was dropping water into the area under the sink, making it drip downstairs into the laundry room. Not good. I have used a dishwasher for only about ten years of the eighteen that I've been married. I'm tired of washing dishes by hand.
4
Bigger Door
We have a beautiful back yard and huge deck off the kitchen door. Why not open it up with big french doors?
5
Cabinets
My cabinets are old, faded, and/or broken. I want new.
6
Countertop
My counter has knife knocks all over the place. I want new.
7
Pantry
I have no pantry, and would rather take the coat closet and open it up on the other side to be a pantry instead of coat closet.
8
Piano Bar
I'm thinking as long as Raant is in the piano moving business lately, I could put a piano bar in here.
Good luck... home renovations can be frustrating.... but the results are always worth it. I will bring the whole band for your piano bar grand opening. Do you make a good dry martini??

Never tried it, but I make an awesome rum and diet coke with lime.

Go for it.
Home is where the heart is.
The way to the heart is through the stomach.
The stomach is fed by the kitchen.
Now, how much more important can a room be?
Save the piano bar until after your kids are gone - the many small crevices will act as collection sites for food items to be excavated in years to come.
Besides, Raant didn't show up. Its hard to find good piano-movers, these days.

Be sure to install the fire-retardant oven; or you may be grilling every thing like your "belle" sister.
I'm good with rum and diet coke.

Pambelle, there is always room in the choir for one more ding dong.
(Laurabelle, of course, I speak only of MY side of the family!)

Pambelle has a nice ring to it.
Grilling everything is looking like an option. Doing the redesign of the kitchen today at Home Depot, there was one thing we didn't find room for yet, and that's the oven. Hopefully when we get together again we'll fit into the island somehow ... but you never know.
