Introduction
Yes, I've had some hangovers, the really nasty, I think I've been poisoned kind; but not very many. I received sage advice as a young woman (over 21 of course) and have followed it with good results.
1
First and foremost - NEVER drink and drive.
Let's just get that out of the way. There is never an excuse for it. Period, end of discussion. Okay, that was the mom in me.

Don't mix your alcohol with sugary substances
Coke, Sprite, etc. not so great. Learn to drink it with just ice or water if you plan to drink very much. That's not to say a margarita with a great mexican meal is not okay, but when you plan to really party, keep it simple.

BYOB
As a poor file clerk in the 70's I learned really quickly that BYOB meant the nice people like me got their booze sucked up by the jerks. So I was told to learn to drink scotch. Johnny Walker Red was my bottle for many years. No body likes scotch at that age and they would leave it alone. I am now a single malt girl.

Divest yourself of the poison
Okay, I know this is really gross and I am not encouraging bulimia. BUT, if you have way over indulged and you empty your stomach of the offending alcohol prior to sleeping you will feel better in the morning.

That's all folks...
I don't know if there is any scientific information to back these up; but I do know that I could party hard and get up and work the next day with minimal ill effects. And, remember, the world is a much nastier place now - keep track of your drinks. Don't leave them for an instant in a public place or frat house.
I heard from others that if you take Ibuprofen before you go to sleep it will get rid of the killer head achs but i wouldn't kno from experience?

WATER. Drink water before bed. An not like 4 ounces. At least 12, preferably force yourself to drink about 20.
