Introduction

I teach preschool. these are some of my favorites to read to the kids and some of my own personal favorites from childhood

Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey

Loved this book as a child, but at the time knew nothing about Boston. Several years ago when I first went to Boston it was so fun to see the streets and parks mentioned in the book. I rode the swan boats and saw the statues of the ducklings and bought a print and took some great pictures.

Corduroy by Don Freeman

cute story about a little bear with corduroy overalls.

Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey

www.amazon.com

I love blueberies. I love to go out and pick them, and to cook and bake with them. This is a great story to read to your children and then go blueberry picking.

Home for a Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown

love this book. Great to read near Easter

Little House on the Praire books- any of them or better yet the whole series by Laura Ingalls Wilder

These chapter books are outstanding. I read them aloud to my children when they were little before bed. they have vivid descriptive words that help young readers to learn about pioneering days. I did not get the opportunity to read them as a child so I read them as a young adult and then again to my children.

Do you have any childhood favorites?

We got 'Blueberries for Sal' for our, then 3-4 year old, son when we lived in Maine and had them growing wild around us.

My kids both loved 'Goodnight Moon' and 'Runaway Bunny'. I used to know Moon by heart.

Preschoolers are so cute. And I'm so glad I don't have one.
