Introduction

at this point in my life, what would be most suitable in terms of my style, my taste, my love of being very subtle in my luxe-ness. haha. and nothing that my parents wouldn't buy me, even if they had tons of money (ie a Porsche SUV...)

1

VW Jetta GLI , black or red with black interior, stick

www.vw.com

Fast, solid, and not too small. Also, it has this nice, "i love german cars and am an enthusiast" without putting off anyone...its very under the radar. And the mileage is good. And its only like $25k.

Mercedes W124 E320 or 300E, white with gray or tan, auto

I am mildly obsessed with this generation of E-class Mercedes. It is by far the most solid, over-engineered (although without all the electronic stuff of the W140), safe, and beautiful car ever produced by Stuttgart. AND, they can be had for very little, although I hear the repair bills are seriously frightening.

VW B5 Passat W8, black with black or gray, stick or auto

I have a passat, and although it is nice, it is a) slow, b) ugly with its standard 16" wheels, and c) slow. Haha. Not REALLY, but the W8 was very much a niche car, had a very small following, and was the only B5 Passat ever offered with bi-xenons, which in my opinion is a must on a car these days ;)

VW B6 Passat 2.0TFSI, white with black or tan, stick

I love this version of the Passat too, but only because it is newer, safer, and I like the LED tail-lights. The interior is "eh," but I've heard it's good to drive too!

Mercedes W220 S430 or S500, '01 or '02, black with tan or silver with gray

I know they say that the W220 was a big step in the wrong direction for interior quality for Mercedes, but I really like the shape and look of the car, and believe it or not, actually like the interior too, although the COMAND is really hard to figure out. Otherwise its lovely!!

Mercedes C230 Kompressor Coupe, black or gray with black, stick or auto

I haven't ever heard great things about the W203 C-class cars, but this coupe is just so cute! I like the shape, like the big doors, and its actually pretty roomy! I would just be staying away from the first year of production (2002)...

Volvo S40 (current version), black with black, stick

I love this car! It is really well designed, and the interior is gorgeous too. I don't know what the driving dynamics are like, but they seem to be popular so I'm sure they arent terrible to drive. This car, along with the S60, has, in a way, brought new, younger, more stylish people to the Volvo brand...

BMW 525i (previous gen), white with tan, stick

I really do like the 90s BMWs so much more than the 2000s Bimmers. Everything just feels and looks better. This car is actually more compact on the inside than I would prefer, but I like it nonetheless.
9

Saab 9-3 Aero or Arc, almost any color, stick

I really like these Saabs. I have always liked Saabs, but this one is just my style. It is REALLY safe too. And it looks good. And you can get it with navigation and park-sensors now, which is pretty new for Saab.

Not a bad list. I think you probably want a BMW 530i though; but you want the E39 body. The 525 is the 2.5 litre 184 Hp engine. It can't get out of it's own way. I have an 03 530i, the last year of the old E39 body style, 225 Hp; quick but not a gas guzzler, I got 31 mpg on a weekend trip to Savannah acouple months ago. I hate the new E60 bodies.
