Introduction
I came across this list at Ultimatecarpage.com Amazing facts about Top Fuel dragsters.
One dragster's 500-inch Hemi makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows at Daytona.
A Nextel cup NASCAR has roughly 900 Hp; a top fuel dragster has 8,000 Hp.

Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 1 1/2 gallons of nitro per second, the same rate of fuel consumption as a fully loaded 747 but with 4 times the energy volume.

To exceed 300mph in 4.5 seconds dragsters must accelerate at an average of over 4G's. But in reaching 200 mph well before 1/2 track, launch acceleration is closer to 8G's.

With nearly 3000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is compressed into nearly-solid form before ignition. Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock.

The supercharger takes more power to drive than a stock hemi makes.

Dragsters reach over 300 miles per hour before you have read this sentence.

One cylinder of the eight cylinders of a Top Fuel dragster produces 1000 horsepower, exceeding the entire horsepower output of a NASCAR engine.

From a standing start, NHRA Top Fuel dragsters accelerate faster than a fighter jet, or a Formula One race car

If a top fuel dragster leaves the starting line when a NASCAR Nextel Cup car passes it at 180 MPH, the dragster will beat the NASCAR to the finish line.

The fuel pump for an NHRA Top Fuel dragster delivers 65 gallons of fuel per minute, equivalent to eight bathroom showers running at the same time.
The fuel-line pressure for NHRA Top Fuel dragsters is between 400 and 500 psi.
That is the sam as the pressure outside a submarine 1,155 feet deep.
The flame shooting from the exhaust stacks burns at 7,050 degrees.

Expected life of the engine in a dragster is less than 20,000 revolutions.
The engine turns less than 800 revolutions in a quarter mile run.
Wow! I never was a fan but I can honestly say I'm interested now. That's incredible. Ever been to a race?

You have never been to a race? It's like NASCAR, you must go at least once in your life. The sounds, the smells, you can fell the engines in your chest, and if you are near the end of the track, when the chutes open, the sound and vibrations will almost knock you over. It is amazing.

I second the engines in the chest feeling. My son was so excited he was jumping up and down and back and forth over 10 feet of a bench seating area. He could hardly contain himself. I was having a hard time keeping his ear plugs in! The setting was the Winternationals in Pomona CA in 1995 Feb. I remember a fan walking out after the races with an oil pan with a hole blown right through it as a souvenir. Now thats a souvenir.

Beeline Dragway - Phoenix, AZ / Bring your cam-err-aaaa....
I loved the funny cars and the top fuelers. Of course this was years ago. Best race: Don "The Snake" Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen. Oh, those were the days, my friend.
Good to see you back.
