If I could have a dog

Introduction

The hubband is dead set against a dog in the house at this time. We both work all day and don't always come directly home. Our yard is not fenced, nor will it be anytime soon. I could get one anyway; but I would be totally on my own for the care and (more importantly) clean up of said dog. Just not worth it at this time. But I would really love a dog like this:

Small

Lap dog to keep me company while the Geezer is at the race track with the stupid race car.

White

I've had four dogs in my life:
Muffin - an American Eskimo, but back then they were called Spitz
Bumper - the best dog ever, poodle terrier mutt
Riley - Westie; run over by the Houston school bus (Mr. McClarey)
Peekaboo - American Eskimo

Bumper: the perfect dog. He died in 1987 and I still miss him.

Cuddley

What's the point of a lap dog if it isn't cuddley?

Non-shedder

American Eskimos shed like crazy; I'm not going through that again. Good thing there is a web site for non-shedding dogs. It is bookmarked for future use.

Spunky

Although it needs to be sweet; it also has to have enough gumption to play with the Hubband. He likes to rough house a bit and expects the dog to play back.

Maltese

Sounds perfect; but too expensive. Plus I believe in adopting from shelters. Although they don't often have smaller dogs.

A bunny or a cat

Would actually be better for us at this time because they can be litter trained. But I'm allergic and the Geezer would kill a cat anyway. (not really, he just likes to say that) (I think).

Aw, Bumper looks like a real sweetie! No wonder you miss him. One thing to remember about non-shedding dogs though, they usually need to be taken to a groomer for a haircut every 6-8 weeks. At least that's how it is with poodles. That's still better than having to deal with the shedding though.

I wish white dogs didn't get that gunk around their eyes. I know they can't help the fact that they were born with white fur, but still.
